Default Back on austrian roads - my ITR #3707

Hi folks

Greetings from Austria !! it’s the small Country in the middle of Europe, right aside of germany (you know the famous Autobahn)

…and yes, there are really Integras driving around in that small Country (around 80) Probably you know Austrian Type R´s Turbo Integra ??

My Name is Christof (Chris), I am 23 years old and live in Upper- Austria in a small City named Leonding.

In the Year 2004 i fulfil myself a dream and bought a bonestock Milano Red 99´ ITR.
It had no A/C, only driven in Summer, 140000km on the clock and no accident. Overall the car was in very good condition

From this time on I constantly upgraded my ITR.
Sorry guys, I don’t have many Pictures of the modifications, my Digicam has broken some time ago, and I didn´t buy a new one.

These where my first mods:

- Ferodo DS2500 Brakepads
- Tarox G88 Brake Rotors
- Goodridge Steel Brake-hoses
- Clutchnet Stage 3 Clutch
- Fidanza Flywheel
- H&R Springs

Next one was 2 ½” catback with Header from Supersprint , a Rollcage from Wiechers and Saftey harness from Sabelt.

after I become accustomed to my ITR it was time for the first Circuit impression

Here at Brno – Masaryk Circuit: (equipped with my ATC DTC Competition Rims 17”x7,5 for the Road)

And here at the Pannonia Circuit (on my OEM ITR Rims with Yokohama A005 Racetires)

After driving one Summer, the car felt too weak and I decided to tune the Engine and do some work on the suspension.
I thought it will be the best to build up a B20 VTEC Setup. In Austria that was far away from standard engine tuning. It was hard to find good parts (had to import nearby everything) Also the mechanical skills where not as good as in the States or Japan.
But what matters…
After a half year I got all Parts I need to build up an B20 VTEC Engine.

here some facts about the Engine:

- sleeved ITR Engineblock with 84mm bore
- 89mm Crankshaft
- JE Pistons with 12,5/1 Compression
- Eagle Rods
- B16A2 Head (hell no, I sold the ITR head some time ago…)
- Ferrea valves
- Skunk2 Valvetrain
- Skunk2 Pro Series cam pulleys
- Skunk2 Pro Series Intake manifold
- Skunk2 throttle Body 68mm
- Crower Stage 2”3/4-race” cams
- ARP head Studs
- 310 RC Injectors
- Golden eagle headgasket
- 200cpsi metal catalytic converter
- HKS iridium spark plugs
- Mocal oilcooler
- AEM V2 intake
- walbro 255lph fuelpump
- fine tuned by e chipped EG6 ECU (think I should buy a haltech…)
- and my Supersprint header (only 50mm Collector)

Now it was time to get the Engine into the car (Thank God …a friend helps me)

completed engine bay:

The rest of my ITR was nearby stock, so I did some Modifications to the chassis, Suspension, transmission and some interior/ Enginebay gadgets.

- 4 & 5 gear from Y21 Tranny (EG6) lower the topspeed and give more power
- D2 Racing Street-Spec Coilovers (13kg / 7,3kg)
- APEXi VAFC II (only Monitoring )
- Gauges for Oiltemp and Oilpressure
- Carbon Spark Plug Cover
- OMP Pedals
- Skunk2 Oil Fillercap
- Skunk2 batterie tiedown
- 2kg Fire Extinguisher
- KYO-EI Lugnuts
- APC Front Tower bar
- Energy Suspension PU-Bushings (Masterset)

Here a few Pics of the actual condition:

And last but not least – the actual Dyno sheet :

First to say that the very small Supersprint header is a mess. Also the not really ported B16A2 head is a cause why the enginepower is a little bit low…

217 HP @ 7860rpm
227 NM @ 5780rpm

But for Austrian measures it’s a ******* fast car…

New Parts for the future:

- Hytech Custom header (already ordered, shoud come to Christmas)
- RLZ or ENDYN Head
- PW:JDM Strut package
- maybe a Haltech ECU
-

OK folks….thats enough stuff for one post

best Regards and sorry for my partially bad English

Chris

Welcome to the site!

Your car is beautiful, and looks like you've done some good work. You might also want to see if anyone around you can tune on Hondata ... the s300 might be another good tuning option for you.

I agree with Morty regarding the wheels ... your car would look badass with a set of 16" Volk CE28's, or even a set of SW388s. I think a set of really nice JDM wheels is the only thing your car is missing aesthetically speaking.

Damn are you lucky to have a Milano Red!

Great first post

True dat!
Yeah, Hondata w/datalogger would be great along with one of their IM gaskets. Might need slightly longer studs in the head for that gasket.
You might also consider moving ground strap on the valve cover. If you put it under the mounting nut to the left of where you have it now, you will make direct contact with the head via the valve cover stud, making a ground connection to both.
Wilkommen!

Thanks for the welcome & commendation @ all

Took me quite an hour for my first Post

i know, 16" japanese rims would be better (the best) but in austria it´s very dangerous with the police....they dont be fond of rims wich have no experts report
You have to check all Tuning parts by the "TÜV" -> technical Inspection association
So these types of rims can´t be driven legal If the police catch you up it can cost you your drivers licence Thats pretty bad...

I have white 16" Advan RG with Yokoh. DNA at home but i am to chicken hearted to mount them.

@ RTW DC2R -> no i dont change the exhaust, only the exhaust-tip of the Supersprint catback. the old one was a mess, and i welded on a Piece of Pipe to get the famous N1 Look. I really wanted a J´Racing 60RS or BC Spec3 but they are all too loud for the street (and for the TÜV )

@ white rocket -> good Idea !! i note this to my to Do List for winter 2007

Hondata is a really alternative to haltech, but in Austria nearby nobody can deal fairly with that...

you all like a MR ITR ?? funny because i thought the MR ones were the most unpopular. In Europe they all want CS ones

I agree on the excellent first post comment. You seem to be a very knowledgeable person and you would be a welcome asset to the board. Now get on a plane and come to Expo, and no capri pants like those bloody English

Thanks for the offer, but i am not have planty of time. got a new Job short time ago, and they dont let me go on Holiday so soon

And don´t be afraid, i have no capri pants

Dont thrust a Superspint catback -> they are looking very brute, but the sound is quiet like the meow of a small cat
It´s under the 92 db range. Thats exactly right for the police...not too loud.

I think about an Fujitsubo RM01A -> thats the quietest catback i know on japanese market.

have no Sound clip at the moment, sorry

Wow... excellent first post as stated by everyone! If only more users were like yourself. What is truely amazing is that you write better than most who speak English as their primary language haha.

The only thing i am going to inform you about is the wait you should be prepared to endure while your header is being fabricated. John at HyTech may give you an ETA on your piece, but i promise you it will take longer. He makes excellent parts, but you are going to wait for them. This i assure you. Be patient

Thanks for the time and effort you put into your post. It's great hearing from and meeting others from overseas with the same passion as ourselves.

A very warm welcome to you

Once your noob status is lifted, hit me up via PM (private message), i need a contact in Austria to come visit someday

Thanks for the good reputation I do my best

you know my english just as good as my Online-Translator

Jup, John build the best headers i know. And the delivery times are sometimes really funny. A friend of me ordered 2 Custom headers from Hytech and waited 7 Month before he gets them...no kidding but what matters...
Austrian winters are long and cold, i have plenty of time
