My sis has a 04 MDX, apparently the trany is going out !!!!! i mean it drives but some times the tranny slips big time .. lest say your at 45 out of nowhere the revs go up and the but the car does not accelerate. and some times it jerks when its shifting!! I need help guys. what could it be?

its throwing a CEL I think it said speed sensor or speed solenoid .. could that be the problem ??

If i have to replace the trany how much could i find a use one for ?? would i be able to do it my self ??

 

Can you change it yourself? I really doubt it. Unless you have a hoist,engine holder,subframe jack with subframe holder,transmission jack and some knowledge of MDX transmissions its actually quite labor intensive. As far as the diag. goes depending on what the CEL is and mileage it may be covered under an extended warranty through Honda. Have it diagnosed at your local dealer and go from there. It could be something as little as a pressure switch causing the issues.

 

BM trick shift full synthetic, used it on a few tired trans and it worked very well after driving for a few hundred to 1K miles afterward stopped the slipping and jerking
