Default battery light question

What does it mean when the battery light (right next to the check engine light) turns on?? I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX.

It usually means the alternator output is too low or the wireing/connector on the alternator has a problem. On a '90 I would check the connector on the alternator to make sure it's clean and tight. If that checks out, get the alt tested for proper output. A long shot would be a bad battery that no longer accepts a charge.

test the battery and be sure the connections are clean and tight/ next is to see if there is at least 14 volts to the battery after a start up/ if low volts; cave man test the alt; smack it with a pipe to see if the batt lite goes off. If the caveman test works [lite goes out] you need to replace the brush pak in the back of the Alt.
