disabled air bags & inspection??
i was told if your car equipped with air bags, you will not pass inspection after they were disabled. is it true? and i would like to know what kind of inspections?
Well if your car is equipped with an airbag and you disable it your srs light will enable....... Depending on where you live you might not pass state inspection...... I live in Pa and if thaty light is on you will fail..... There is ways that you can bypass the srs light though so it wont be on.... So just look into that

Like I said in a different thread, if you just follow the laws you will have zero problems. Get a CARB intake, header, shift ****, subwoofers, and whatever else you want, just make it CARB legal and you will have zero problems! And to the OP, if you are talking about emissions inspection, I don't think it will since the airbag has nothing to do with emissions last time I checked!

I had to go through an inspection after I crashed one of my civics and it became salvaged. When a car is given a "salvage title" in california you have to get it inspected for brake & lights, airbags and all that stuff. It was funny though because I just hotglued my passenger airbag cover back together and stuck it on with no airbag, and pulled the SRS bulb. The airbag cover looked totally like **** and I still passed !

When you key on your ignition the srs light comes on automatically for at least three seconds indicating that it is working. I believe on most cars that while that light is on, your ecu runs a self check, although Im not sure if its most or all, etc. I don't usually pay much attention to it when I do emisisons/safety here in Utah, but I've been reading some stories about some dick inspectors in Cali, so wouldnt be surprised if they look for the light to make sure it works. Seeing as how California sets the standard for the rest of the country in regards to emissions testing, I doubt there are many counties that will pass off airbags that dont work.
On a side note, I drive a little faster knowing the airbag will keep my head out of the windshield
