Default type r piston/rods or aftermarket on gsr?

Planning on purchasing either type r pistons and rods or aftermarket ones which ones is better for price and what after market products should i be looking at not looking to spend more than 750 on both

Are you planning on boosting or NA. If boost then go forged, if NA stick to OEM rods and cast pistons, but make sure to get some ARP rod bolts.

If its a mild NA build you should be fine with the R pistons especially because the GSR has oil squirters. If it were an LS block it would make more sense to fork out for forged pieces.

ITR pistons are cheap - as in inexpensive - and more than adequate for mild NA applications. I don't think you'll get much benefit from ITR rods though. They weigh about the same as GSR rods but they're supposedly more weight matched for better balance. If you really want to get rods I'd go for a good set of aftermarket rods. That should take up your $750.

I have type r pistons in my gsr and she moves pretty damn quick im happy with the price i paid for them and the performance i got out of them
