My daughter has a 89 Honda Civic DX. Hubby is out of town, and can't tell us where if there is one, the block heater is located. He replaced the radiator this
past Summer, and her cousins say no it hasn't got one. Yet her Uncle, drove it and says it has one but doesn't remember where it is. I don't see a plug coming out the grill or near the grill anywhere. Can someone guide me in the direction. Usually on all my cars they were in plain site.

ive never heard of a block heater on a honda...on diesel trucks, yes, hondas no.

For your information and laugh away. But a block heater helps the engine to start better especially when you're in minus 29 celsius weather. For an older car that would make the engine work less. Find your answer of lol an ignorant reply.
At least the guy before you had some decency in the way he responded.

Yes the older cars do have block heaters, read some other blogs on other sites.

Yes Honda does make and sell block heaters for their cars.On my accord it goes in the front of the block on the left side,I am not sure on your civic.I would guess it would be in the same location.If no block heater has been installed you can buy one that will go into the lower radiator hose.These type are easier to install,the other type require that a freeze plug be removed.I do not recomend the type that replace the dipstick.Mark

I called my local Honda dealer and they had it in stock even,I don't know if they make it but they sell them.LOL I was having trouble with a cold start and was going to install one.Adjusted the iacv one day when it was 23 f and now it starts on those cold mornings.Mark

 

of course they make one, they come as options on cars in canada, duh.. and you guys call urselfs honda fanatics

 

Thanks Moonjaw. The info is greatly appreciated. Will look for it on the left side (passenger) when she gets the car home. So they have an inline hose heater...hmmm. Had one of those on my old car. Worked like a hot damn.

Will call Honda and check it out. The car is going good still at 250,000 KM.
Needs the usual fix ups. But with the cold weather, it has been starting rough, shimmying and shaking, then when it warms up is fine. Easier on the car if it is warm to start with.

Yup they do have that option along with battery heater/blankets. Its just a rare option depending on were you live. But were it installs I have no idea... By the way maybe try the 88-91 Civic fourm cause this is for 88 ond older stuff...
