Default Anyone know how to defrost a keylock?

Hey all,
This is ridiculous.
I moved from NY/NJ to MD this summer.
And this morning I had an issue where the door was
stuck cause of ice. So hot water did the trick.
Anyway, tonight I observe that my driver-side
keyhole is stuck, it moved only halfway to the lock and
unlock positions, therefore my car is unlocked outside
as we speak.

Whats ridiculous about it is I have had my car in 30 degrees colder
temperature before, with no such issues. The coldest temps we got
in NJ is around -5F and my car was fine.
Today it was like 31F. WTF?

Try a lock de-icer, and then spray the mechanism with WD-40 once it's free.

It's not just about the cold. It's also about how wet it is outside. Sometimes they freeze. Sometimes they don't.

that crap above is crap, don't use it. It was NOT effective on my del sol. Use silicone spray and spray inside it. Just use some oil or grease to keep everything lubed up and you wont have a problem.

Frozen locks suck!!

PS spray it on the locking mechanism that goes into the striker on the body, because if that freezes too, you'll open the door but it won't stay closed! I've had that happen to me too.....felt like a real dummy!

Good luck!

PSS if you have nothing, blow into the lock, it'll momentarily unfreeze it. It has also worked for me a couple of times....ah the joy of winter!

Can't wait to go skiing...

a gift 12 years ago lol. Still in its plastic packaging.
Gonna try it out after I find some AAA batteries.
