What's the lightest you can make a 5G Prelude by just removing weight (no custom dash, lexan windows, and stuff like that)....just removing all inner panels, tar, spare, seats, A/C, etc.? They're about 3000lbs from the factory. Trying to see how light it can be made w/o custom stuff. Thanks.

 

My Base 2000 5spd weighed 2862lbs as shipped from the factory. I have a copy of the Manufacturer's Title from Honda that lists this as the shipping weight. As shipping weight affects how much Honda pays to ship each vehicle, this number is very accurate.

Anyway, spare tire, jack, toolkit and the spare cover mat will save you 35-40lbs. Passenger seat weighs about 27lbs.

Well the weight that manufacturers publish for vehicles is with full fluid levels and gas tank. When Honda ships cars, I can only assume that they put a minium amount of fuel in the tank to save on shipping weight and cost.

haha!, I wish! It's my friend's car actually...I've just got secret plans for it...I'm still working on my sublimal persuasion to get'm to turn it into a race car.

 

I don't know how or where it is but take out the power steering unit, that will give you a work out. I rad about taking out the power steering somewhere.

 

The four speakers + 2 tweeters + head unit would probably weigh in around 40 lbs.
Passenger seat + rear seat ~ 80 lbs.
2 door panels ~ 10 lbs.
Floormats ~ 10 lbs.
Glove box ~ 5 lbs.
A/C ~ 50 lbs? This is a big one.

 

80lbs sounds pretty optimistic for seat removal. Have you actually weighed these? Or is this a guestimate?

I've weighed my passesnger seat at 27 lbs. The rear seat (top and bottom cushions) together weigh maybe 18-20 lbs max.
