Default Heater core leak?

Well I just found out today that my heater core is leaking or something is. I can see and smell coolant in the cabin underneath the glove compartment. Anyway to fix this or do I have to get a new heater core? Heat still works and that's all I really care about at this point since I plan on getting a new car in a year or so, just the smell is annoying at times. Sometimes I smell it, sometimes I don't.

Stop Leak. You can get it at Auto Zone or Pep Boys.

that stuff will clog your radiator. you need to pull out the dash and replace the heater core

well i just went out and looked at where exactly it is leaking. wiped it up and let the heater run for a bit and it seemed to not leak. of course it leaks since there is coolant on my floor mat and floor but doesn't seem to be that bad at all. might just deal with it, don't have the time right now to put a new one in. especially since it's getting colder and colder and i'm a ***** when it comes to cold weather

here is where it is leaking from... can i put something there to block it off from leaking on my floor mat and floor?

seems like a good idea but i'm still debating on whether or not i'm going to get a new car. so just in case i do keep it, i don't want to run into problems in the future with it.

i had that same exact problem this last summer. i'd suggest replacing it, because i don't think breathing in those fumes is healthy for your lungs.

i put a plastic sandwich bag under it, so that it wouldn't drip on my floor.

as far as fixing it goes:

1. a new (lifetime warranty) heater core from schucks is around $50.

2. there is ~5 bolts holding the dash to the car.

3. took me a good full day, and a 12-pack
