Default ls/vtec

ok so im gettign ready to start my ls vtec build that will be going in my 94 del sol and i have a few questions.. first off.. i know ill need the shift linkage from the vtec del sol (b16a3). im starting with a bare block and building it all iron sleeves and what not.. i have been doing alot of reading on this latly but none of my reading has helped me with one thing.. im plannin on boosting this at 20 psi so i know i need to lower the CR ratio.. new pistons rods and HG would help with this.. but i have yet to find a site where i can buy all this.. and i dont know what pistons to use as it will be bored bigger then stock.. not sure on that part either..

so what im asking is what size bore would be best to hold 20 PSI of boost on iron sleeves and what rod/piston/HG combo would handle that

You can try... http://www.laskeyracing.com

Benson sleeves are great and very well known/recommended.

A nice combo if you have the $$$ would be CP pistons/Pauter rods. They are sold on that same site i gave you and come in various sizes depending on the bore you go with. I have my LS blocked bored to 81.5 mm (its not much at all). How many litres do you want? 1.9 or 2.0?

If you go with an LSv kit from Golden eagle they supply you with the HG needed for the swap.

thanks for that link.. seems like a good site for the pistons and i do plan on going with GE LSV kit to make things easier on me.. from what i have read its a direct swap pull the ls head off and put on vtec head after putting in head studs and what not.. then run the oil lines to the vtec solinoid.. but as we all know its alot easier said then done..

Its definitely something that if you were trying it by yourself I would read up alot and have someone supervise you that has done the swap before to cover your work.

I sent my block/crank out to Laskey/Benson and had them bore (81.5mm), deck, hot tank, and micropolish/balance the crank. The work was amazing. I highly recommend them.

Depending on your whp goals you really wont have to touch the head... maybe just an upgraded valvetrain... Supertech is a good company from the valve stems, keepers, dual springs, retainers and valves.

Be sure to putt that car around until you get it tuned.

I would maybe bore it to 81.5 and run stock sleeves. You shouldnt run into any problems with the sleeves at 400whp or 400hp.

What type of budget are you working with?
