Default Wrapping a header...

Hi, I own a 98 civic hatch with a GSR engine. I just got in a DC ceramic 4-2-1 header (1 piece)

I was looking at the papers that came with the header and it said the heat wrapping it would void the warrenty. I was planning to wrap it and my question is...Will wrapping the header shorten the life of it in the long run? The ceramic header isn't as strong as a full stainless steel header and the flanges are only made of mild steel.
Thanks

Wrapping the header causes the heat to be retained inside the walls of the tubing, and can also trap moisture, both of which can potentially reduce the life of the header, thus the reason why DC states it will void your warranty.

Why were you planning to wrap it?

The car is only a weekend warrior. I know thermo-dynamics dosen't add to much of anything as far as gaining power. I was just thinking about it before i go ahead and install.

Here is what you should do before heat wrapping your header. Go to your local auto parts store and buy some spray cans of high temp heat coating. Then go home put a few layers of heat coating on the headers, wrap them in some header wrap nice and tight, and call it a day. That heat coating adds a little extra protection under the wrapping to keep those headers solid for a little longer. Of course don't go driving through snow or puddles either.

Yeh, unless you're wrapping a turbo manifold I say it's not useful. Good idea on the high-temp rattle can paint! or swain coat too.

Keeps heat down...
...heat sucks away power...

Do the math
