High performance tires and Summer tires
Hey guys. Sorry if this has been brought up.
On the new Si's, are the high performance tires the same as the summer tires option? I would like to know this for winter reasons because it snows here. Thanks

Its either the "performance" all season tires or the summer tire option. Since it snows, you would want the non-summer tire. It should be Michelin MXV4's
That's interesting to hear bro and I appreciate the reply. I'm just shocked that this entire board has not reiterated what you have stated.
i have never used them but alot of guys on hear really like the bridgestone blizzak for the winter youmay want to look into them

Absolutely, traction is key. I was just curious if the wheels I have on my car will get me through the winter. Not lookin to spend a lot of cash....Just hoping my High performance tires will get me through the commute

Si Tires:
All Season: Michelin MXV4's
Summer: Michelin PE2's
both of those apply to the OEM 17" Wheel
Now for the HFP 18" wheel, its a Dunlop FM901 (summer tire)

I'm wearing out the MXV4's fast....10k and I have maybe 6-5/32 all around. I rotate them every 5k
No burnouts either, just my normal driving

i have some Blizzak WS-60 on some rims just for winter, i like em too, but yes if you have to deal with snow i'd recommend you get at least all-season unless you plan on doing like me and getting a whole tires/rims set for the winter weather

Whats funny is my dad's stock tires on his accord are the same MXV4's and he got 45k out of them.
I'm going to a summer and winter set up after this...I should get more life out of the tires that way.

The compound on the exact same model of tire can differ depending on which car it is OEM on. I know that the MXV4s on the Accord are designed for low noise and the least rolling resistance possible to provide the best gas mileage. As such, they will probably have a harder tread compound than the tires on the Civic Si which has a performance bent even with the all-compromise tire option. If you feel that your tires are wearing poorly you may want to check your alignment, but if that is spot on then you may just have to live with the short life. I always recommend switching out tires as soon as they reach 4/32" if you drive through snow or standing water with them, 2/32" just isn't enough tread depth for those conditions.

I have always defended the stock all season Michelin's i have 30k on them with 15k of them dropped on Sportlines with no camber kit and my tread still looks great, they also held to the ground during a 105mph turn i took 2 fast ,they have done well in snow and rain i will use them to 50k if i have 2
So overall they are expensive very good tires but of course there is better tires out there but for what they have done for me i love them.
