OT: Acura sales
http://www.vtec.net/news/news-...25737
The sales of Acura have continually been going in reverse. It seems that since the heyday of the Integra (especially the hype generated by our R's) things have gone downhill. I consider myself a Honda/Acura consumer, more so Acura.... but with their current lineup, I don't know if I would continue to be a customer:
RSX = strut suspension, strong motor, controversial styling, cancelled anyway.
TSX = great car, but underpowered compared to competition. TSX-S would of been nice!
TL = sweet car, probably the only bright spot
RL = lets just say, I miss the first generation 2 door Legend coupe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I...e.jpg
NSX = old model is "classic modern supercar" ; that "thing" of a concept is no replacement. Granted a front engine car can be and is great, but it is no NSX.
PS: I am not up "early" just sitting here at work in Vienna, Austria. Project is closing down, so now have some time to chill. The cars in Europe are so nice.

I agree it should be nice, but I still think of it as a different model line (since it is front engined) and not a NSX replacement.

omg 550 hp na nsx that would really be worthy of the name "ns-sex" hopefulley they maintain a lightweight car overall
and yeah sucks for acura that theyre sales are going down, they are really a "null" company or grey company, i mean i like acura's and all, but what are they trying to be now with no sports cars? a moderatly priced moderatley great luxury car? i mean theyre cars are halfway between a ford taurus and mercedes e class, and suv's halfway between a ford explorer and a range rover or other extremely high end car, atleast the integra gave acura a variety, and back when they had the integra the other cars acura had were really not even that great, i think they need another sporty lightweight not so "luxury" oriented sports car to get them back into the market, maybe re introduce another coupe and sedan in the compact class and bring it back and badge it as the integra, a 220 hp 2.0 or 2.2 liter k series, 6sp lsd, and under 2900 pounds with a great suspension setup with handling charactoristics of the old itr dc2, and that pure engine sound weve all grown to love, a sporty, simple, elegant, not too hightech suede oriented interior, and ofcourse they can have less pimped out models too, but acura needs something to bring the FIRE!!!!!! back to thier brand,
honda really needs a more bad *** si too, i think they should bring one in with the type r name, better handling, more power, and make it lighter weight, caus the new si's are nice but honda needs an answer to the evo and sti in north america, becaus honda is just getting by on their heritage and economy and safety and value and resale value right now(i really guess thats mroe than enough for any 1 company to be succesful) but i would really like to see a bad *** civic let out on north america, to bring it into the modern modeified world not just our time capsuled civic and integra modified world even though our cars still kick *** it would just be nice to see honda competivie in the newer bad *** somewhat economical raceing sceen with sti/evo

i think acura needs a mid size convertible with back seats!! one that can compete with a mercedes clk or bmw 3 series convertible, i think if they did it right they could pull it off, and that along with a new integra sports car and the bad *** nsx thats coming and the gangster TL and the wannabe baller tsx that they would come back up in their sales

David, those NSX spy shots resemble NOTHING of what the new NSX will actually "look like"... The only thing on that car that will be apart of the new NSX is the chassis and motor, neither of which you can see... the body was just made up of modified S2000 panels to conceal everything else. You're jumping ship way to quickly here. Just wait and see what the next 1-3 years has to offer...
I agree with what's said above. None of the new Honda's (including Acura's) reach out to me. They perform well, but when I drive them, I just don't feel the connection.

But I'm not jumping ship. Just eagerly waiting now. Still, even after a trip to Honda recently to check out the new Accords...well, let's just say my search for a DC2R/AP2 continues.

Both very nice, but there are other foreign options that offer just as much for way less money IMO (like the Mazda CX-7).
Other than the TL Type S, nothing from Acura really jumps out at me--and all Acuras are pretty expensive now. Just because they are trying to compete with BMW does not mean they need BMW prices.

Actually, Acuras are priced anywhere from $5K to $10K less than the competing BMW models, when comparably equipped. Some of the BMW base prices aren't far apart, but once you add options to the BMW that are standard equipment on the Acuras (heated seats, HID lights, satellite radio, etc), the gap is huge - about $5K comparing the base TL with the 328i, almost $7K comparing the TL Type S with the 335i, etc.
I think $33,725 for the base TL, considering its long list of standard features, is an incredible bargain.

I'd pay $5000 for RWD, though. If that doesn't concern you, then yes--The TL is a decent car for the money given the list of features. I wouldn't call it a bargain, however.

Would it make you happy if they just axed the leatherette seats and charged the same amount as they do now for the Premium Package, and call that standard? I think I've probably come across maybe one post E46 BMW not equipped with Premium Package.
Imo, there's no point in comparing BMW and Acura. I don't think most buyers xshop those two brands together. More like Acura v. Infinity and BMW v. the other two German automakers.
