help please??
Hi guys,
I am not the best with cars, but I really need some advice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So here is the problem. My engine was overheating badly, so I immediately pulled over, and there was a lot of fluid leak (seems like the coolant?). So here is a list of the current symptoms
-overheats in less than 2min
-rpm fluctuates between 1000-3000rpm sometimes when idle
-40km/h idle speed (way too fast)
-coolant level is okay, doesn't seem to be leaking now for some reason
-there is some coolant residue underneath the distributor
I am thinking maybe my water pump is dead? But what do i know :S
But how does that explain the idle speed behaviours?
And lastly, what is a reasonable price for a mechanic to fix this problem?
Thank you very much in advance!
Oh, I have a 92 accord LX, 4 dr sedan

well..to fix the idle, start with the throttle body such as the IACV, FITB..etc.
and the overheating, could be a bad thermostat but make sure you buy the thermostat from Honda not autozone, trust me. and if there is coolant under the distributor, check the housing where the top hose radiator comes to, maybe there is a tiny crack.
