Default K20 boost Type S motor

I just got back from the dyno last night and blew the ring lands on my 02 type S motor. Hopefully the heads still good. I have a spare 06 type S block which im planning on slapping in. I know the block has very low mileage but I was debating whether to rebuild the 02 block or just popping in the 06 type S block and turbo it again. I was hoping that it would work because I was told that an 06 type S block has higher compression.

Here is my setup.

t3/t4 Turbonetics Turbo kit
3 inch downpipe all the way down
k20a2 with Rcrew valve spings and retainers and stock 02 type S cams

I just wanna know whether I should shell out a **** load of cash to rebuild the 02 or pop in 06 and hope for it to be safe.

i would say rebuild... it may be a sign to build and go.

sell the other motor and put that money towards a rebuild.

Troof. Who did your tuning? How much hp did they push out of it and how many miles was on the car? Sounds like improper tuning that kill the ring lands.

Use the 2006 block to drive the car for know on boost and rebuild with lower compression! That would give the best of both worlds. power now and and more power later! Good luck with thedecision. Also I am interested in what kind of numbers you put down also.

I am actually running the setup in my ek. I am hoping to push at least 350. The guy who tuned my car has a really good reputation in my area and hes gotten a lot of power for a few of my buddies with smooth driveablity as well. My 02 type S motor had about 40,000 miles on it and its been raced before. I was thinking about popping in the 06 type S block and running it on low boost, maybe 6-8 pounds for now while I save money to build my 02 type S block. That way ill at least have the car drivable for now.

compression ratio should be the same, 11.0:1 for both type-s motors, the only ones that came with the higher 11.5:1 compression is the Type-R motor (K20A) from japan.

i would still keep it below 8600rpm if you havent replaced the factory rod bearings. the factory ones are only good up until about 8500-8600rpm before you run into issues with spinning or even crank damage.

my motor is mild boosted (8-10psi) 8psi for daily driving and 10psi for the track. i have a Hondata K-Pro ECU and my rev limmiter now is set to 8600rpm and have not a single issue with it yet. i launch in 2nd gear at 7500rpm with no problems yet.
