Kumho mx only one
i need to but some new tires soon and needed some info. i want to get a tire that has better traction then the budget performance tires but does not wear as fast as the rt-615 and is around $100. so far the only tire i found was the kumho mx, is there any other tire out there? o and the size would be either 205-50-15 or 195-55-15.

You have a couple of options in 205/50-15: the Kumho MX and the Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212. Neither one lasts anywhere near as long as the budget performance tires (typically 25-45K miles), but both last a bit longer than the RT-615 (figure 15-20K miles vs 10-12K miles).
The Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 is a new tire from Dunlop designed to compete with the Azenis. It's available in 195/55-15 ($84/tire at the Tire Rack). Since it's new, it's too soon to hear how long it lasts based on actual experience. It has a 200 treadwear rating, which means it might last longer than the RT-615. (The RT-615 has a 200 treadwear rating but I consider that bogus; its 10-12K typical mileage means it should really be more like 100, at least when compared with the treadwear ratings on tires from other brands.)
Those with older Civics (using 195/50-15) and with 16" or larger wheels may also want to consider the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, but it's not available in 15" sizes for your GS-R.
