Coolant leaking into cylinder 4 through head cooling port
Ok so i'm really getting frustrated with this problem. I have a 90 4 dr civic lx and it's burning coolant in the #4 cylinder through the coolant line that goes into the head by the 4th cylinder. I thought it was leaking through the intake manifold gasket (still might be i guess) but it's a brand new gasket and I used gasket sealer on it and waited a day, and it still leaks. to make sure it was the coolant line I plugged it up for about 5 seconds and started it up with no smoke out of the exhaust at all. When i put it back on I see plenty of smoke coming out of the exhaust. So my question is, is it leaking from the intake manifold gasket still or could it be somewhere inside the head? Thanks for any help.
It's not leaking through the headgasket, unless the coolant line on the intake manifold goes through the head gasket. The PROBLEM is coolant is somehow getting into the cylinder through the coolant line that goes into the head near cylinder 4. When I dissconnect it no coolant is being burned, when coolant is being burned, I already put a new IM gasket on and gasket sealant so I'm not sure what the problem still is.
sounds like you've got a crack in the coolant jacket in the head...do a leak down test and see if you get air coming out of your radiator/overflow resivoir....only thing i could think of aside from the headgasket..but if that coolant hose is whats obviously causing the problem......you might start looking for a new head
