Default '99 TL - Got A Bunch of Engine Codes!

Hi Guys,

Got a '99 TL with 141,000 miles on it. Been getting a P1457 EVAP engine code, but I had a friend (who is a very good mechanic with his own garage) do a "smoke test" and he took the canister apart, checked the seal and sensor. Said he really couldn't find anything. Ok, that was last week. I can still drive the car...

Then monday I was driving around, on the cold snowy icy roads from the storm we had and my check engine light comes back on. I figure it's the 1457 EVAP code again. The car seems to drive ok....

So today I plug my OBD tester in to check the engine codes and I see a bunch of items reading "Incomplete" and I see a LIST of codes....

(...sorry for the glare off the camera)

P0457 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (fuel cap loose/off)
P0524 - Engine Oil Pressure Too Low
P0444 - Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Open
P0554 - Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit Intermittent
P0666 - PCM/ECM/TCM Internal Temperature Sensor Circuit
P0777 - Pressure Control Solenoid 'B' Stuck On
P0888 - TCM Power Relay Sense Circuit
P0999 - Shift Solenoid 'F' Control Circuit High

.....I cleared all these codes off and checked codes again. Still had one...

P1457 - EVAP Control System Leak Detected (Canister Area)

eeeeeeeeeeeee.........the only thing I recall just before the light came on yesterday was a "crack" sound which I thought was a big water drop hitting the windshield from a overhead train bridge.....and another loud crack when I opened my diver side window a crack. Maybe ice sticking the window shut?

I do have an issue with the tranny, my 2nd gear clutch is slipping bad, but I nurse it. I will probably have rebuild it, but was putting it off as long as possible. But I never got all the codes above!

Anyone have any insights as to what's going on?

Thanks,
Jeff

their is most likely a small rust hole in the evap line from the tank to the canister area. i would do a smoke test again and have it hold for a long time we have gotten some from back east and have found a lot of damaged pipes and hoses. a small leak are the worst to find. had to leave it on the smoke for about 45 Min's and seen the drop and finally seen the extremely small stream of smoke.

It looks like the engine computer had a major brain fart to generate all the other codes above. Odd it happened when the 1457 code happened....??
