this topic is broad and pointless.

what's you budget?
daily driving or for enjoyment?
what kind of driving/racing, if applicable?
what kind of power do you want?

BE MORE SPECIFIC, it will help out the answer you get

ls/v can be reliable depending on the builder and the tuner if you know what your doing it can be very reliable.

This guy has 2 post, why are you suggesting a motor for a expierenced enthusiast? Thats like going snowboarding or skiing for the first time and hitting some double black diamonds, not that smartest thing to do and its probably not going to have good results.

I would go with a GSR motor, because your motor is old and probably wont like boost to much. A gsr is a good base to start with if you want to build na or turbo.

dude, as long as an ls/v-tec is built and tuned properly you wont have any problems and it will be reliable... i know a few ppl with them and they haul *** with little to no work done to them... i also am building an ls/v-tec turbo though... i have seen one with almost the exact same build as me on race gace hit over 700whp and wasnt even full boost and has yet to have any problems at all with his engine... as to the op, dont wast money and get another b series motor when you can just put a turbo on and run a decent amount of boost and you will have a nice amount of power for way less then a new motor...
