Default temp needles shoots up to HIGH on startup

I just purchased a 1990 Accord EXR....

the heat works perfect, but when I start the car..when its dead cold....or even if I Just turned it off and came back after 30 mins...

the temp needs jumps to high....then drops back to cold....then slowly moves up as it reaches proper temp...

i kno if the thermostat was stuck open...i woudlnt have any heat...but i do have heat...does that mean the thermostat is stuck closed? or is it just another problem all together?

May just be the circuitry on the back of the gauge. My speedo was working improperly, due to the said circuitry. It's an easy fix.

I have a 94, I don't know if it was as much as problem for your generation though.
