hi...

i just did an 99-00 on my ej6....

everything is after market. everything. i think i got everything to fit really really well... cept the bumper... that's where i need help.

did i do something wrong? because with alot of moving around and screwing around (get it?) i got everything to fit well cept the bumper.

is this bad alignment because everything is aftermarket? so if i get a oem bumper, will that fix it? i know it won't look like an oem car, but i want it to fit better... any suggestions will help. thanx.

don't mind the dirtiness... a dog was chewin on the bumper so i had to try to sand it out a lil bit...



and if you look at the first pic... closely. you'll see a 1 inch gap between the hood and the grill..

any suggestions on how to fix this? the bumper looks like it's not meant to be there....

BTW. i didn't do the radiator support....
i HAVE ONE. but i didn't want to go through the trouble of having to weld it on... the money... and the... money. so yea. please don't tell me it's the support.

i mean everything else fits good. just the bumper.... help me out. thanx.

 

it depends on how the parts were made...but do you have the styrofoam in between the reinforcement and the bumper cover? chances are that because they are not oem or a quality made part then the fitment will be poor. its kinda like body kits...

can i fix this with more repositioning..

since everything else fits really well cept the bumper... will my answers be solved if i get an oem bumper. what do you think? let me know.

oh by the way... the hood and fender brand is CHAIN WAY. im not sure if you've heard of them... the bumper is unknonw. i got it from a guy who didn't have it in the box.

can you fix it by moving it around? tough call...you have to try it. if you can somhow cut it and use sheet metal screws to make things fit then try it. if you expletive it up or make it work it saves you more money then going to go buy and oem one.

will your answers be solved? i have no idea lol. but it will give you less headaches and a lighter wallet.

have not heard of that brand but ebay has pretty good parts. with the bumper bought out of the box if he had it leaning against the wall a certain way then it can get bent out of shape. you should have done a test fit before buying it but nothing you can do now.

just do what you can do and let me know what happens...

i don't think it's all the aftermarket parts...because as you can see in the pics... the other parts fit really really well.

the bumper just doesn't look like it belongs there... help!

 

Do you have the bumper supports that go under the head lights in? If not then that is your problem. If you do then the head lights are not adjusted right. Maybe it is because of the older rad support. I am not sure on this though.

yea i do have the bumper support under the lights... i think so. i didn't take anything out of the car... the support are you talking about the metal pieces that go under the lights?

the thing about the lights is... it aligns really good with the fender and hood. if i put a cenimeter thick of rubber between everything, it'll look oem. (i've been looking at alot of oem cars to compare with my car...)

anyways. maybe you're right, but if i move teh headlights, it wont align to the rest of the body. so im hoping it's the bumper.

so is the old lie that the OLD radiator support works... is that a myth? because it doesn't... have you seen how the lights stick out? that's alot... maybe it means that the old rad doesn't work.

so if i switch out rad supports... will it work good? please let me know. thanx.

thats my 98 civic with type r front end all oem parts never had to touch anything with rad support its better to use oem parts. But if u want it to fit better youll have to cut and drill parts bigger to get them to fit closer or tighter with each other.

 

did you cut and drill holes bigger for your oem stuff? you did right?

the aftermarket stuff is the same. i didn't cut anything, but moved alot of stuff around... loosen nuts, push parts the way i wanted, then retightened. is that how you went about your conversion?

your front end looks pretty good from far away... can i see closer pics? thanx though.

I just trew it on i didnt have to cut or really move anything its like it was ment to fit , but i guess u only get that joy out of oem parts.

 

yeah and look at the gap between your driver side headlight and hood....i wouldn't go around bragging about that fitment. . .
