I live in hollywood, LA, and I am thinking to paint my 03 accord coupe black. (Instead of the silver color it is now. You know the one.) How much would I be looking at money-wise, and has anyone out tried this before? I want to have it repainted black ALONG WITH those small micron metal pieces like you see in the stock paints. Thanks.
I work at a body shop here in NY and a GOOD quality paint job will cost you around $2500-3000 where i work (pearls are expensive). Macco will cost about 500 and will be 10x more likely to look like **** and will lack alot of quality. Its more logical for you to just sell you car and buy a black one. Or deal with the color it is now.

In Canada, I got my Prelude painted from red to black for 1000 bucks, door jams, under the truck, under the hood, sunroof, but it should only cost 2000 at anyother body shop around.

every car needs paint for different reason, you have to factor in body work, prep, the level of finish, what type of paint system and brand and the whole nine yard.
1000 sounds normal if you already have all the body work done and the car is actually ready to spray, but for 1000 buck you are not going the best paint seriously, unless you have hook up,etc if you know what i mean.
for a complete color change 2-3k sounds reasonable, if you want anything color match minus the hood. of course there will be more if there's more body work involved, ding, dent, antenna hole removal, shaving, etc

color changes are a pain. to do it right, like factory, you have to remove the doors, fenders, hood, trunk, lights, etc, etc. everything must come off so that everything can be changed to the new color. people really dont understand how much work is invloved in painting a car and having it look good afterwards. all these shows make it look simple. and it is when you have 15-20 guys working on one car. paint and clear coats arent cheap, then you have tape, masking papers, and sand paper. if there are any dents to be fixed you have to figure in fillers and different sand paper, then primer, then more sand paper and masking paper to cover while priming. then you have to put everything back together, man hours, then if there is any buffing to make it look better afterwards. it takes a lot. then if you do it for a reasonable, cheap, price, people wanna nit-pick it. you have to understand that if you want it done cheap, it will look that way.
Keep the paint the way it is bro. If its in good condition and really doesn't need to be resprayed, save yourself the hassle and just live with the car being silver. Trust me, you'll be happier that you didn't touch factory paint.
