hood pins
I searched hood pins and all that came up were people asking if they are needed or not..
I am curious as to how they are installed, I've heard there is some drilling involved
i plan to get a jdm front end conversion installed on my Gs-R this coming spring. and might be buying a carbon fiber hood to go with it. would any body shop know what to do with hood pins? or can someone whom has installed hood pins themselves enlighten me as to the proper procedure for installation? please and thank you.
what are you scared that they are going to steal? if it is the car than why even get them there are too many ways to get under the hood even if there were hood pins there to stop them
not scared about theft, but I'm defiantly trying to avoid it. i just want to take the precaution of having them, its a good idea to invest in them if you have a carbon fiber hood...better safe than sorry.
yes they help somewhat, but i am curious as to how they are installed, and if i could simply have my body shop do it for me when i have them install my front end conversion in spring.

the good hood pins require a key to unlock em so that u may open ur hood... well atleast my friends hood pins on his DC does.

Those are hood locks, not hood pins, and they're not very effective.

all you do is measure out where you want to put the studs on your radiator core support shut your hood and trace out where they will go through the drill through the hood. simple. from there its pretty self explanatory.

lol i thaught you meant hood pins that are just pins sticking through the hood with cotter pins in them.
a friend of mine had to get some because on his 5.0 mustang, the hood flew up on him on the highway, smashed the winshield in and all that good stuff, so now he has the cotter pin hood pins.

what exactly is a "cotter" pin? any difference from any other hood pins. i plan to buy Mugen hood pins if they are ridiculously price, which they probably are...
Try Sparco hood pins instead. They're half the cost of the Mugen ones.
And, those ugly hood pins with the pin cip through them....the pins aren't cotter pins. They're hitch pins or clevis pins.
