Photography help!
So I'm browsing the "Official" CW/PY/NHBP pictures threads (by the way, what the hell is with every other thread on H-T being titled, the "Official", I don't know why that pisses me off so much!)
anyway, back OT, there are quite a few interior shots of cars, and they look SOOO good. The thing I can't figure out is, how are they blocking the light from outside the car? My thought is, they cover the car, then take a picture with flash for the interior. Anyway, it's easier to see the pics than for me to describe them, so here are a couple. If anyone knows the trick to this, I'd love to learn it. Also, those of us that want to contribute to the "wallpaper" thread, etc. would probably like to know as well. Help?
here is the only pic I could quickly, but you get the idea of what I'm after. I'll find a couple of more:

that's actually what I'm gonna try today. I'm gonna turn all the lights off, and then just shoot the interior with a flash.
I've just been seeing alot of these type of interior shots popping up lately, and I'm VERY interested to get some of my own stuff looking this way. If I figure out how to do it, I'll deff. post back here the instructions.
I don't even know if anyone else cares or is interested in knowing. Sorry to post up a new topic for this. No harm no foul though?

The first pic is definitely post processed. Light doesn't cut off like that, especially how soft they are.
For me to imitate a picture like that I would use a garage. Wouldn't have to be fully enclosed or anything. I would place black cloth over the car and over the interior. I would set my camera on a tripod and use some sort of off/on camera flash with the head tilted slightly upwards but not a full 90 degrees. I would diffuse the light somehow and shoot.
Or I would just use a softbox and cover the car up with a black cloth and shoot it that way.
It seems as if a straight flash unit was used in the original picture though, because you'll notice the hotspots on the shift ****, the seat belt buckles, and part of the dash.
There isn't ONE way to snap this picture. Wish I still had a camera to show you.

You're cameraless? NOO! Hopefully you're in the process of coming to the darkside?
btw, to the OP...bedsheets work well too.

awesome dude. Thank you for posting that. Like I said, I'm gonna try some stuff out today, and post up my results.
Unfortunately, I don't have a tripod...... (still doing the amateur thing) but hopefully, I can rig something up. I know that in low light situations, you get shaky pics. Try taking a picture of christmas lights without a tri-pod.

something to that effect can be created quite easily. when i got my new seats installed in my car i ran out and snapped a shot real quick.
this picture isn't a very good one at all, but i literally just grabbed a flashlight and my tripod and snapped the picture very quickly. it would have turned out a lot better if i would have gotten the exposure right, and more importantly the focus. i was in a hurry and using manual focus due to the low light conditions and kind of blew it LOL.

Put a thin light paper or cloth on that flashlight and it'll make the light more toned and smooth instead of harsh.

LoL> NEVER! If I get another camera, I'll just replace my 5D with another one.

The first picture posted looks like it was processed in photoshop to black out the outside, as well as the roofline. Note how drastic the cut off point is on the headliner.

I took this photo outdoors, as the sun was going down, using a couple of off camera flashes and a Canon IR sender. Because I was focused on the interior, and the shutter was only opened for a split second, the outside is automatically darker.

Sean took this pic at night with a tripod and he dragged the shutter for 10 seconds.

yea i was going to go grab some wax paper, but like i said, i just snapped it very quickly (thus the poor focus and exposure). i was just showing how simple a lighting setup can be.
