Default My first new car. 08 Civic si Coupe fiji blue!!!! (different guy haha)

im in the same boat as the guy who got bashed for not searching right below me haha. Im only 17 but im paying fully for it. I am leasing it for 3 years/12k mi/325 a month putting 3000 down. insurance is a bitch. straight out. im in nc but my dad whose gonna sign the papers (overnighting to him right now) is in florida so im going to pay more in tax but theres no property tax there so it works out even. Its beautiful. Fiji blue, no nav, the dealership put a bunch of stuff on there i really dont want like the little wind visor on top of the sunroof, a pinstripe, a $500 detail, mud guards, and wheel locks. all that together is 1200. i said i didnt want to pay for it so they gave it to me for free and discounted even more. im family friends with the dealer which helps. I used to drive a lexus sc400 that i had a 2jz-gte in. it would fly...im going to try and get used to less power but it will be awesome to be in a brand new really nice car. and for some reason my friend thinks his scion tc will run the si any day of the week. he said he took a 4 door on the highway one time. i call bullshit. he said even though it had 197hp it only had 139lbs of torque. but whatever. hes an idiot. to tell the truth ive never been a fan of really loud civics/hondas in general, and i dont plan on making this one like that at all. it will be semi loud but sound good at the same time. anyways, my names vince, i plan on being here for a while, and just wanted to say hi

Property tax on a car?

You're paying for it in there somewhere, not only that you don't own the car when you're leasing it, so nothing is actually "free." It's just more stuff on the car that if it gets damaged you will get docked for it when you have to return it in 3 years.

congratulations man! good luck with the twin to my car lol. only option mine has on it is foglights. i just changed the headlight bulbs and man did it suck. it wasnt necessarily hard, but it was definitely complicated and most involved of any bulb swap ive ever done. you gotta peel back the fender well cover on the passenger side to put the low beam on. i have brighter bulbs for my foglights too, but i will only put those on if there is a way i can do it without splicing any wires. havent really looked at them yet. well have fun. and again congratulations!

ps- baby your car for the recommended first 600 mile break in. its worth it and it goes by pretty fast.

Good luck at keeping it down to 12k/year! This car is addicting to drive, nice lease though.

well it was for real. it was a 93 chassis with 121k on it. the motor came out of a guy on clublexus's 95 gs300 that he was putting back to stock. i payed 3 for the car and 5 for the engine. my brother and a local shop i help part time in let me use some time after they closed. it took about a month to complete and then we gradually added to it. (it was a close to stock motor when we bought it and it came with a v161. the guy gave me a good deal my brother knew hime.

anyways in more exciting news they are shipping the papers out overnight tonight and i should take delivery by thursday hopefully if my dad can mail them back tomorrow. Im so excited!!!!

it was nice but i need something that i can reliably drive back and forth to college next year and then years to come. also i think this looks better then the sc, it was stock on the outside pretty much so im VERY happy to be in this car. I LOVE IT!!! I just want to find some performance and cosmetic upgrades that wont make it look/sound cheap. i hate LOUD exhaust

Because he is full of **** and never had the lexus most likely. Why did a 2JZ swap go in to an SC400; a car with a factory V8. Sure you didnt have an sc300?

wow, you sound smart. the 1uz-fe motor and the 2jz can be fit into the same bay. you cant just bolt up a v161 to a 1uz, which is why i went for the 2j. since then an adapter plate has come out. and if i didnt have the lexus why would i have over 1000 posts on clublexus. damn you dont know anything about me or toyota engines and yet you accuse me of lying. well how about this: expletive off.

in better news i got a better deal on a black one at a diff. dealership for 286 a month. saved myself 30 bucks a month, now i just have to wait till saturday to get it..

Whenever I see someone post "Hi pot, meet kettle" it fills me with rage. It's stupid as hell and the n00b seems to know what he's talking about.

Congrats on your new car n00b and if you're actually paying for it yourself at 17 you're the champ. When I was 17 I was driving a 1985 Prelude.

Wow I call bs until I see pics! I dont care who you are, theres no way anyone would hire a 17 to work for him as a mechanic. Your probably sweeping the floors for min. wage and your dad is paying all the bills. You never owned a 2jz powered sc300, its probably one you found on the internet. I hate kids who try to be cool when they first join.

Cut him a break, man. Your hypothesis is equally as conclusive as his post. Does it really matter...?
