ZC Help needed
I have a 89 CRX Si with a 3rd gen zc swap. The alternator took a dump on me and I need to replace it along with the belt. I am hoping someone can tell me what usdm car(s) I can use to cross-reference the parts so I can get my beast back on the street. To anyone that can help me, THANK YOU!!!!
Sorry I have to ask, but can you be more specific with what a 3rd gen ZC is? Usually people refer to them as SOHC ZC, DOHC ZC, ZC VTEC, black/brown/olive top, etc
Brown/Olive...same thing, I just have previously heard people refer to them by "Olive" to be more literal about the color, but same thing.

It's been a while, but I believe I specified an 89 Integra when purchasing a new alternator for my DOHC ZC (black top). Bring in your old belt and have them match it for you, I specified 89 Integra for that as well but it wasn't the same.

Stop yelling.
He is right tho. OBD0 and OBD1 share the same alternator plug. OBD2 has a slightly different one.

Just make it easy and get one from the year range above, like ludesrv says, they'll work just fine.

unless you are getting the OEM one, you would be better off going to the junkyard and getting a used OEM one - it will last just as long or longer than one you get from Autozone, Checker, etc. and won't cost as much
50/50 with you on that one.
I got one from the Kragen near my house, last less than 6 months, replaced it under warranty, less than 6 months later it was dead again. Replaced it with another, and it's been going for the last 5 years now. If I had a chance to do it over, I would've saved up and got one from the dealer. I spent just as much on the Kragen one and the towing charges from the times my car died.

5 years and still running with the current one, which Kragen said would be my LAST free one under warranty LOL. It's really random, what people have to understand is that most of the Kragen/Autozone/etc parts are remanufactured, which means that at one point in that part's life, it was broken.
Hey man. I might drop a ZC in my hatch for the hell of it. Why pay an *** of money for a motor when ill probrobly blow it up anyways. Buy the way i asked my buddy robbie about ur problem and he said he dont know. sorry
Once again thanks to everyone. I'll be going with the OEM replacment. I never use remanufactured parts on my honda's, only on my chevy(it's going to break regardless)!!!!! To jedi----I told you if you want a car with the zc in it, I'd sell you mine so you don't have to go through the hassel. Then again, it's always better when you get to build it and blow it all by yourself. The downside is you get to fix it all by yourself!!!!! Thats why I work on everything I own!!!!!
