its soo damn hot today.. and im driving with no A/C i guess i need some freeon.. or however you spell it.. i have a 2000 gsr.. is it common that i would need to fill up with freeon this early.. and where can i go to get it done.. and how much would i expect to spend?

 

A bit too soon there for a refrigerant recharge. Make sure it gets tested for leaks. Expect to pay over a hundred.

But as for your problem that sounds odd, I would get checked out. The AC should not need recharging, i have a 00 GS-R when I do drive it, it still blows cold air If I ever do use the AC, for girls and mom So I would get it checked out, it should still be under warrenty, at the dealership. Check you a/c line below you bumper, mine got puntured (by a rock, I guess) and cost about $150 to get a new line and refill the freon.

 

what exactly does the line look like?? and if it isnt punctured what could some other problems be?

 

Under your bumper on the driver's side there's a tube/line in front of the radiator, it should be black, if you see any area is not, it's probably puntured there. If this is the case, all you need is a new line and refill freon. HTH

 

mine is a 98 with 43k on it. think i will need to recharge mine? its really not cold
i read the hayes manual that ican just buy a recharge kit

 

I got a 96 with 83,000 and it's never been recharged, and it's still nice and cold..leaks has to be the problem.

 

had my 'suction' line replaced due to a leak and it cost me $150 including labor and freon. The part itself was $100 for the suction line.
