obd1 dizzy with obd0 ecu?
my friend is putting a 98 JDM d16a vtec (yeah I never heard of it and told him it did not exist too if anyone else thinks that) into an 85 civic 4 door. He wants to run it with a pr4 ecu. He wants to use the obd 1 distributer. Is this possible? thanks

sure it exists (came in JDM EG Civic coupe and in the Ferio RTi - some were 128hp and some were VTEC-E with 118hp):

putting it into 85 four door would be a real job - you would have to fabricate all of the mounts - use 88-91 transmission - fabricate shift linkage - get custom axles made for it - change out the entire fuel system for system from 3rd gen Si - swap out most of the wiring for wiring from 3rd gen Si and add a bunch of wiring - 3rd gen four door is carbed, so it doesn't have a pressurized fuel system and used a vacuum advance ignition system - could it be done? yes, it could be done

OBD1 dizzy has an 24 teeth gear on the inside for the crank sensor.
OBD0 dizzy has an 18 teeth gear on the inside for the crank sensor.
Won't work, I know from experience (tried it myself).

Nah. It's just not as common as the D15B from the 92-95 Si.

Actually, the job is made considerably easier if you use a 1986-1989 Interga transmission rather than a 1988-1991 CRX transmission. The transmission itself bolts right in with no modifications. You then only need a bracket to bolt to the top front of the engine for the driver side bracket.
As for the ECU, why not use an OBDI ECU? The fact of the matter is that the wiring changes required to run an EFI motor in a carbed 1985 Civic are going to be about the same in difficulty whether the ECU is OBD0 or OBDI.

86-89 transmisson, and the block is older than 96 so it will have most of the halfshaft mount holes. just need to hack the top of the half shaft off and weld it on lower and thread the holes on the block
ive never tried it but always thought, change the motor bracket in the timing cover to a b series one (from my understanding there swappable) and use a hasport/innovative drivers side mount.
p.s. have fun converting it to fuel injection as well.

I wonder if you could use a 3G Accord driver side axle. The 3G Accord doesn't use an intermediate shaft. I believe that axle has the same transmission spline as a typical B-series (which is the same as a 1G Integra). And I think the hub spline is also the same as a 1G Integra. If you have a self-serve wrecking yard in your area, you can try fitting one before you buy it.
So if i have a obd 1 ls motor and putting it in a 88 crx. and i rewired the connecter on the harness so it can fit the obd 1 dizzy, it wont work. That's the only problem i'm having right now my ls swap on my crx wont start it has no spark and is throwing out a code 15 ignition out put signal. What would be the shoultion? THANK'S for your help.
