$259.95?
I wanted to get a paint job. But the Maaco out here wants like $600 to touch my car. This Erl Schieb piant place said $259 and he saw my car.I see some threads on the maaco paint jobs but not for Earl schieb.Anyone got one of those paintjobs on their car?
You get what you pay for, And as far as Ear Schieb, its half the price of a Maaco paint job and half the quality. If there is such a thing as quality and Maaco...lol But ya basically, Maaco is not good and Earl Schieb is worse.

It all depends on the owner. I worked at Maaco in Ocala F.L and the owner was VERY **** about the quality of the jobs we sent out. If it wasn't perfect, he would send it around again and we would reshoot it.

Yah but who would be seriouse about a $260.00 paint job. That's not even enough to cover the materials on a real paint job. That paint job will be so rushed it's not even funny. I bet you can take it there in the morining and get it back in the afternoon. LOL
Masking job will be **** poor and everything that you don't want painted will be painted. You'll be lucky to get a year out of a job like that.
I would advise you to save more money and get a better paint job. One you will only have to get once instead of twice.

I just wanted it painted though. My thoughts are if I want a real showroom type of job,I would spend more than $260 just on clear coat.My car is a bucket that could use a decent paint on it.

I was actually the painter and didn't rush the job b/c it was a SS. I took as much pride in the cheaper jobs as the expensive ones. Its my name on every paintjob that rolls out those doors. As far as the taping, it is taped just like every other car. It might just be how he did business at that Maaco but we didn't look at the cheaper cars any different than the others. If the guy cares about his name he wont 1/2 *** it b/c it is cheaper. Also if you not satisfied with the job when you get it back, they will repaint it for you.

From what I have heard and working with a guy who did work at Maaco. The only problem with these company is the prep work, if you could prep it your self the paint comes out as good as any other paint jobs. The reason why the paint doesn't last coming from these paint places is the fact that they ruch the prep work. Maaco and these other places have some of the best painters so they don't have to redo work, not only that but they have some of the finest boths. All in all prep it yourself and have them paint it.
That is very true. Some of the best painters come from Macco. They have to paint 8+ cars a day. They also have to match the paint for most cars also. Not all cars are full resprays.
The problem with the paint is that it is cheap. There is a reason Dupont PPG and all the other paint manufacturers charge an arm and a leg for their stuff. They gurantee that it will last for around 10 years and still keep it's shine.

They actually use Dupont at Maaco but put Nason clear over it
The Nason clear lays down good but dosen't compare to PPG clear

I felt the same way, how they gonna make a buck off that? >300 just for the material is pushing it, i doubt they are using BASF paint, probably lead base good stuff from the 50's?

I went down to the Earl Scheib and he said bring what ever paint I want and he would spray it with my paint for the same price. If it was gonna be baseclear, which it will .It would be $400 TOTAL .I ask why it went up, he said it would need a good wetsanding. So im dropping it off Wednesday. My galant is going orange and black.
speaking from experience, Es sucks ***, i had my car sprayed there and they screwed my trunk over, got it painted blue and it came out looking like the ocean. This time I'd rather do it myself.
I had my car painted at ES....basically if you are going to not let them get away with
it'll come out pretty good for the money. took them 3 times to get my car done (without runs and only minor orangepeel) overall I'd say it's alright for the money, but have heard maaco is better
