Default OWNED: Gingerman on the 24th

Sr. Ausmith took the Arrr deep into the grass after getting the driver rear hung up on the rumble strip coming out of turn 11....

Interior = OWNED

So did anyone throw a flag, and point you safely back out on the track?

Clayton comes prepared to the track... He brought his very own tire mounting machine!

There is no station at 11 You can see the main station down the straight from that corner.

What happens if you hit the wall, and burst into flames? Is the handicapped gentleman that was working pit-out going to make it down to 11 in time?

Jason-
who means no disrespect, but had that concern during the event.

Good lord, can this ever die? Are you guys going to be reciting "Phil Sucks" on your deathbeds? GET OVER IT ALREADY.

Ausmith: You should start driving with the windows up!

Honestly, not trying to stir anything up, just noting a concern I had. That's all...

Not really (as in I am not worked up), but it gets quite tiresome to STILL see mention of something you guys were supposed to get over a long time ago. And it is obvious that I am not the one worked up about it.

see sig. oh, and we'll let it die.. once Phil is out of business..
I wonder how much bandwidth your sig is taking up, post after post.

Also, do you REALLY think that the junk in your sig is really going to put him out of business? Good luck. Honda-tech is not as powerful as some of you guys think, unfortunately.

and windows up.. yeah THAT'S SAFE!!
I dont see why it isnt. If you dont have window nets why would it be safer for windows to be down? You are wearing a helmet and auto glass is VERY safe when it breaks.

While in competition it is normally recommended to have windows down (with nets), in an HPDE (I think that is what Ausmith was at, but not sure) YOU ARENT RACING, which is something quite a few of you guys seem to resent.

I had a tire rubber flew at me and hit my lip during a touring session (no helmet required). Almost ate it cuz I was talking to my passenger.

I betcha a lot less bandwidth than your posts waste. Don't worry, I don't voice my opinions solely in my sig and I'm sure others voice their opinions elsewhere as well.

I dont see why it isnt. If you dont have window nets why would it be safer for windows to be down? You are wearing a helmet and auto glass is VERY safe when it breaks.
At a CGI event, you are correct. It's not a safety issue because there's no EMT anyways so you have 10 minutes to break out the glass first. In a PROPERLY run event you will have EMT there and the window being up prevents fast assistance by EMTs. Driving with the window down is not unsafe at all.

While in competition it is normally recommended to have windows down (with nets), in an HPDE (I think that is what Ausmith was at, but not sure) YOU ARENT RACING, which is something quite a few of you guys seem to resent.
Recommended? I guess you've never participated in any real sanctioning body eh? Some forms of racing actually require windows to be up, most down. Oh, and I can race whenever I want to. A can drive one of a few different friends racecars or just put a cage in mine finally and run that.. I just lack the interest in doing so anymore and would rather pay off debt... but thanks for your assumptions.

Oh, and see Jason's quote in my sig, I think it fits here in a way (except for all HPDE participants)

And it wasn't me it was Sr. Ausmith.... who was in my Arrr.

We started to go around and I kept yelling "Clutch IN! Clutch IN! Clutch IN!"...

Uhh..yeah, you are right. My 0.67 posts per day versus your 11+ posts per day. If you are going to try and call me out and least do it intelligently.

Don't worry, I don't voice my opinions solely in my sig and I'm sure others voice their opinions elsewhere as well.
Hey, its a free country, you are allowed to say just about whatever you want. Just as I can complain about people's incessant whining here.

In a PROPERLY run event you will have EMT there and the window being up prevents fast assistance by EMTs. Driving with the window down is not unsafe at all.
That makes sense. BUT, a window is very easily broken by an EMT as well. Reread Wai's post. Driving with the window down CAN be unsafe. In fact, the same thing happened to me in the past...a piece of rubber nailed my helmet very hard while at the track. It stunned me more than anything but a larger chunk or a hit in the right spot could cause much more serious problems. Not to mention that in the event of a seat belt failure or something of that nature, you can more easily be thrown out of the car.

Recommended? I guess you've never participated in any real sanctioning body eh? Some forms of racing actually require windows to be up, most down.
Actually, I have. It is called Midwestern Council. I primarily stick with HPDEs though. And, it is time to work on your reading comprehension skills. My quote: "While in competition it is normally recommended to have windows down. . .". What part of that quote doesnt agree with what you said? "Some forms of racing actually require windows to be up, most down."

Again, if you are going to call me out, do it intelligently.

. Oh, and I can race whenever I want to.
We all have that right. BUT, with that comes responsibility. HPDEs are not for racing..they are for EDUCATION. If more people stuck to that HPDEs would be even safer, which is something I think we all want.

I am not trying to start some type of flame war here. I am just sick of you guys posting about how horrible the ITR Expo was. IT IS OVER...let it be done. We all know how much you hate CGI, Phil, etc.

O... back to the dirty ITR picture...

I am just sick of you guys posting about how horrible the ITR Expo was.

Sorry... but the 'unsafe' event was not my idea of fun. I would have never driven to the event if I had of known how different it was from the events that are local to me.
Everybody has a different idea of 'safe'.... my idea is with the window down.

Sure I have been hit in the face (with helmet on face shield open) one by a tire worm and twice my bugs.... does that mean that I will roll my window up?
Nope... both of mine will stay down (even in heavy rain) at every event I ever attend.

Will
