5th Gen Prelude - Replacing suspension(eating inside wall of tires... etc) Suggestions please
Ok heres the deal. I have a 2001 Prelude with factory suspension(as far as I am aware of), from what i can tell, it is all stock. The car has 17inch Konig Imagines on it with 215/40/17's. There is the info that could possibly be useful for whoever responds lol.
Anyway, the problem is that I keep wearing tires out(mainly the front, of course) on the inside wall of the tire. Actually had a blowout friday while i was driving out of town because i didnt realize they had worn so bad. Anyway, I have had an alignment done on the car, and they tell me that they cant get the camber adjusted to even close to 0. He said i needed offset balljoints to allow the camber to be adjusted correctly. The only reason i can see that as being a problem would be if the car was already lowered. There is a possibility that the spring and shocks have settled, and could be causing the camber problem. Ive come to the conclusion that I am just going to redo the entire suspension pretty much. I mean ive already done a JDM H22A swap when i cracked a sleeve, and ive swapped to an H23 5spd tranny(used to be auto), because i killed 4 Auto SS transmissions in less than a year. So i believe suspension is next.
Since this isnt just the springs, shocks, or struts, I want peoples opinions on what all I need to buy. If anyone can let me know what all i should buy, please let me know. Control arms... ball joints... shocks... springs.... etc.
Also, if you have any links to Packages that would include everything i need(or even almost everything) please post them up.
Thanks in advanced!

where did the alignment shop set your toe? concensus here is that its actually your toe setting that eats tires, at least to a much higher degree than camber.
have them set your toe to zero, not 'within spec', zero and see if that helps
have them set your toe to zero, not 'within spec', zero and see if that helps
within spec is close to zero.
When we say zero out your toe.. its the combined toe that needs to be at zero.
OEM specs normally don't eat tires, so setting them within spec should be fine.
the op's car just needs an alignment, from a good shop.

edit: i just re-read the op's post..
are you the 2nd or 3rd owner of the bb6?
if so, the car could've been lowered... or worse.. in an accident...
if the shop says nothing is damanged.. then you don't have to buy anything.
================
since you are going to be doing suspension anyway... a good coilover or set of shocks and springs is all you need.
see how you like it, if it rolls too much, add the anti-roll bars... if not.. then your set.
anti-roll/stabilizer bars are tuning devices for suspension...and should not be treated as a major component.
other parts should only be replaced if damaged.
stay away from polybushings, they dont last, contrary to their advertising. hard race rubber bushings or oem bushings are your best choice. just remember to clock all your bushings correctly.
i don't think PIC makes coilovers for the bb6, so go with the proven koni/gc setup if you want rideheight adjustablity. if not then koni yellows with some ots eibach/h&r/tien for your car would be more than enough.
other brands.. like function/form type II have had great reviews, and nobody has complained yet about their reliability. they have been in the market for almost a year now.

Yeah I have to wonder how the camber could be off that much with stock suspension unless it's been wrecked before.
Did you get any kind of print out with that last alignment?

We can't advise you in any way unless you post the alignment specs from the print-out sheet.
