Default Tensioner wont come out.. maybe time for a new block

i've been having this battle with the damn tensioner bolt for about 2 weeks now. we've tried vice grips, drill and tap, socket extractors, heating it up, EVERYTHING. so i think what its going to come down too is i need a new block (unless you guys could think of anything)

How much should i look at spending for a rebuilt stock ls block or maybe one with low compression pistons for my boost?

seriously? You're going to scrap a block over one bolt?
If nothing else, take it to an engine machinist and have them take care of it. Shouldn't cost more than $50. That's way cheaper than a new block.

so i take it that the bolt is rounded off? looks like your gonna have to drill it out and heli-coil it if you've already tried an easy out. i dont know why you would have to get a new block. If you couldn't get a bolt out of the frame would you buy a new chassis? I hope not anyway. Like I said, helicoil it.

helicoil is not the answer IMO. I had a helicoil break off in my block when i took off the head and had to get a new block because no machine shop could fix it. i would stay away from that method if at all possible.

well i've been trying to avoid the fact the i might have bent an exhaust valve when my head gasket blew and there was no oil due to a shitty connection from the oil pan to the line for my turbo so i think i would have to get a new bottom end anyway and i want to build the spare one whichever motor it will be for my boost.
I think i'll just take my block to napa or something after i put this other one in.

Some guy wants to trade me a jdm ls with 70 k for my 15'' rotas and tires (black 4 spoke with red lip, no scratches at all).. good deal?

i dont like to use them either, but if it is a toss up between a heli coil or a new block, well... you figure it out. its only the tensioner anyways. if it was something else like a head bolt or something i would say no way, but again, its just the tensioner. i think it would be fine in that case.

but sense you think you blew it up and are going to get a new block anyways, why are we even having this discussion? lol
