Default turbo-ing type r

jus wondering how much work and $$$ id be lookin at to turbo. from wat i know type r compression is to high meaning ill need all diff internals. i aint looking for some 10 sec car or anything. jus have some " go" for my own personal preference. i mean n/a i would personally like but turbo seems maybe worth it in the long run. so jus looking for some opinions thanks

Depends on how extensive you want to get with it.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by gustavito1986 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">from wat i know type r compression is to high meaning ill need all diff internals.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Incorrect.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by gustavito1986 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i aint looking for some 10 sec car or anything. jus have some " go" for my own personal preference.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Then get a nice intake/header/exhaust combination with tuning, and let that be that.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by gustavito1986 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i mean n/a i would personally like but turbo seems maybe worth it in the long run. so jus looking for some opinions thanks</TD></TR></TABLE>

How so?

If I were planning for the long run, I'd rather have a reliable all motor engine. Which is what I'm doing.

here we go again haha

no need to mod the internals for low boost applications..
if you want a lil more power on the street with the help of boost, keeping ur setup reliable wont be too hard..

whats your budget?

looking maybe 2000 to 2500 for a budget. u said it bettewr than me help of some boost with a reliable setup. lol

i aint lookin to run like 16 pounds of boost to go all out. and everyone always tells me high compression is no good for boosting. even like 7psi on stock internals and knowing that itd be reliable id be happy with but that s why im asking people that no more than me

I love my turbo, but sometimes I get frustrated with it. Make sure you have it done correct the first time.
My motor has stock internals and i've been through 8-11 lbs for about 35k now on the car. The car is feeling the affect of boost.

for 2000-2500 u can piece together a nce setup but that wont include the cost for install or tuning.. so i hope the budget u mentioned is just for parts..
2500 for parts labour and tune means u will have bought some shady quality parts..
i started off on a budget too so do what i did.. take that 2500 and buy decent parts and sit on them till u get the loot for install and tune.. money comes and goes and ina lil while ull have a lil more to play with..
trust me ull be happier in the end..

Ever considered a SC? Mine made 260 WHP & 175 WTQ on 10 lbs. You can get a Jackson charger cheap these days. 440 injectors minimal, Kamikaze header and some Hondata or equivalent.

nah never thought bout SC. i knew somone that had one on their jdm gsr and loved it but iv heard 2 stories.

1. SC put more wear and tear on ur engine since boosting u can controll how many pounds u wanna run
2. that was false turbo will do more wear and tear

sooooo lol back at square one

im running a .4 psi spring in my 44mm wastegate .. my boost creeps to 8psi @ 292whp and i think thats at the extent of being safe on a type R..
my turbos big if u go with a smaller one u could do a lil more boost same hp and better powerband for the street and ull be smiling like a kid in a candy store

this is my setup

engine: b16b '98 civic type R (stock internals)
turbo: garrett gt3082r .82a/r
wastegate: 44mm tial with .4bar spring
bov: hks ssqv
injectors: rc 550cc high impedance
manifold: ssautochrome
downpipe: 3 inch ssautochrome
exhaust: full 3 inch front to back ssautochrome
fuel pressure regulator: AEM universal
fuel pump: walbro 255lph
intercooler: ebay 29 x 9 x 3 (i think thats what it is)

i paid around $3000 give or take for all those parts including the plumbing

if ur not gonna take it much further than 300whp get the same setup as me but 440cc injectors and a smaller turbo id say the GT 2871R or GT2876R.. you could even do without the fuel pressure regulator, and maybe even a smaller intercooler

You must've maxed out those injectors huh? You didn't get a new clutch to go with it ?

Boost + VTEC = fun. I'll never do it myself though, even though its very tempting after driving yours.
