ITR or Lude-SH
one of my friends is thinking either to get a 2001 used ITR with very low mileage or 2001 brand new lude-sh from dealer... he can't decide and he wants to go fast...any suggestions??
so is that the only reason?
yeah thanks dude, that really helps...i guess he is heading toward to that ITR now, and btw, what the hell does SH mean? i heard it means better handling,...not more HP...

yea i would get a ITR too, think SH is more expensive than ITR too, and stockwise ITR is faster, but then again like laughing2.2 said, i would get a older model say 94-95, GSR, LS, then build it, u can save up to $20,000 thats alot of money to build a car, u can make that baby 12 second easy
The ITR will cost a LOT more to insure. He should get quotes from his insurer before deciding. All in all, the ITR a better performer all around though. The Prelude will be more to purchase initially, but the overall cost of ownership will be lower.
Depends what your priorities are and how much $ you want to spend on owning a car...
If his only criteria is that he just wants to go fast, he should look at a fox-body Mustang.

this guy is a rich ***, he's got $25000 in his pocket already, I told him to go with 94 or 95 integra he said those are too old and he doesn't wanna look bad in an old car...WTF??? therefore i think he is getting the ITR, he called the insurance company this morning, and his rate is $2000/year, he is planning to have his friend help him to upgrade that R to.......watever the fastest that car can go...
ITR
I
mine and will never sell it.
FYI: My insurance rates started out at $300/mo which is over 3K a year. They dramatically went down when I turned 25. Since then, they've come down even more for me. I now pay $1750/yr for my prelude and ITR!
The car payment, however, is what I don't want to divulge.

Buying an ITR to go fast in a straight line is a waste of money because he'll have to invest a couple grand in theft prevention and a few more grand in rebuilding the bottom end for lower compression.
A couple grand in theft prevention is exaggerating a bit, don't you think? I mean, the most expensive item people get is lojack, which is under a grand. I don't know many or any ITR owners who have spent thousands on theft prevention!!
My 2nd gripe is the comment about needing a few more grand to rebuild the bottom end for lower compression. First off, where did the lower compression factor come from?
Secondly, the compression isn't *that* high where you couldn't run forced induction. There are tons of people out there doing it on stock blocks, not that it's the recommended way, but it's doable. You could easily just drop in low comp pistons from anywhere between $300-600 if you wanted the lower c/r.
I'm not trying to start an argument, but I feel those numbers were slightly exaggerated.
ITR for sure...unless he wants A/C
apex- who loves the good 'ol ITR vs Prelude debate!

ITR's have AC. Only 1 year didn't, or it was an option. They just don't have sunroofs.

Yes I know I bailed last month but it was the weekend of my housewarming party. When is the next one? July 14th? If so i'm there! I am dying to auto-x!! (and meet you to thank you in person for the engine)

Still though, with me the prelude wins.
If you or your friend are real car enthusiasts, you would go out and test drive those cars to find out which one you guys like better rather then depend on what people say in a Honda forum, where people generally say good things about the car that they own and bad things about the other.
And if your friend wants to 'go fast', then why wouldnt he just get a Camaro or something. If he's still set on these two cars however, then there is no real question that the R is faster(car vs car).
Each car has its strong and week points, and we should all know that being educated people.

so since u r saying the 1993 lude is better than ITR, does that also mean 93 lude is better than 2001 lude-sh?
If I had my choice, i'd take a 4th gen vtec over a 2001 sh, but that is just my opinion.
"better" is way too relative to use in this scenario.
