Default 93 EG with Type R motor; Which CAI model to purchase, LS/RS or EG?

I have an EG with a type R motor. I want to run a CAI but I don't want to purchase the AEM CAI hybrid. I want to purchase an ebay CAI, 3" of course. I see some made for an 94+ Integra RS/LS and I've seen CAI's made for EG's. Which CAI model do I get? One made for the RS/LS or one made for an EG? TIA

Yeah I had the AEM hybrid CAI and it fit perfectly, but damn, 200 for an intake just doesnt make sense to me. The ebay CAI probably work exactly the same.

Here's what I found so far but not sure if it'll fit on the type R motor correctly. I assume it will.

That intake looks good to me 3" diameter piping and cold air extension. Should be fine for the money.

I decided to make an "icebox" similar to comptech's, with my type R intake. Here's where I got the idea.

I purchased all the parts and everything fits good. I'll post up pics and a writeup soon.

I dynoed the exact same setup when I first built my engine and it failed miserably against my 3" AEM ITR CAI. I wont get too in depth about the issues but the AEM made 10+whp and 10 ft/lbs over my modded ITR airbox setup. The ebay intake you posted will work better in my opinion.

Interesting.

Anyhow, I placed an order for the ebay intake just in case. We'll see what happens. I ordered the one made for an LS/RS but its pretty much the same as the ITR because it has 3" piping

I just picked up some rims and put about 55 miles on the new ITR box CAI setup. Throttle response was much better than the AEM hybrid CAI that I used to own, in addition to more torque and more power throughout the RPM range. Now, I know this is a butt dyno, but the difference in results was almost like night and day. My good friend was with me and he noticed the difference compared to the AEM CAI. With the AEM CAI I had, it was very "laggy." I wouldn't feel a power increase till at least 6-6500 rpms. With this ITR box CAI setup, you feel power throughout. He liked it so much that he wanted me to build him one for his EK but we both felt it wouldn't fit due to his AC lines in the way.

Anyhow, I highly recommend this setup to anyone. I forgot to mention that I am running a K&N cone filter inside the airbox, and the piping diameter from the bottom of the intake box to the end of the cold air extension is 4" not 3". I wanted to replicate the mugen CAI which has 4" diameter piping for the extension. So my setup is a full 1" bigger than even the comptech air box.

I will be posting up pictures and will do a mini writeup. I'm considering making a "kit" out of this but I must warn you guys, the installation is a pain in the ***. I see some shortcuts I could have made to make the installation time shorter but do expect to spend at least 2 hours making this modification, if you want to make it look nice and do it right.

If I do end up making a kit, I would charge 55-70 shipped, depending on certain things that I won't get into at this moment. This mod will definitely work for all integra's and will fit EG's with B series motors with a little more modification. Not sure if it'll fit EK's with B series motors.
