what tranny do i have?
i bought my 94 dx coupe about 3 years ago, the previous owner had swapped it, then swapped it back to a D15b7 when he sold it to me
the thing about my tranny is, that at 60 mph, its at 2500 rpm, 70 is at 3100, and 80 is at about 3500. i dont know if i have a dx or ex tranny, is there a way to tell, like a code or something around the housing of the tranny? thanks

If you had a DX trans, 2500 RPM in 5th gear would put you at 46mph.
You have an EX trans.
2500 in 5th = 59mph
3100 in 5th = 73mph
3500 in 5th = 82mph
Definitely an EX trans. Thanks for actually coming in here with what you need, you'd be surprised how many people come in here asking questions like that with NO helpful info like you provided.
to you. EX is the best trans in my opinion as it offers the quickest gearing without compromising gas mileage. As far as I know there's no code, it says S20 or whatever on all of them. The only way is to do what you did and match it up to a gear ratio calculator, or if it's out of the car, you can turn the input shaft or some crap and count how many times the input shaft turns - I've read of this method once, never did it - I'm sure Bense could tell you something about that.
Def. an EX trans though.
