Default a/f gauge

hey guys i installed my a/f guage again. this time myself... but its not reading right... when am at wot it doesnt show anything. and when im half throttle or something then its like lean and stouch. hmmm its a "powerpro" 02 sensor the one i bought 50 bucks on ebay.. maybe its the 02 sensor giving bad readings? i connected it to the white one. i had it before with my old 02 sensor and it read fine. whould go to rich when i was at wot (wide open throttle) and as i would punch it a little would bounce where it should be at. not sure but my old one had the connection to it with the white and green wire. but as i read here its only the white wire right...? let me know please thanks....

What kind of AF gauge is it? I couldn't find any 'powerpro' 02 sensors on ebay...

make sure you have a good ground, if u dont then your reading will be jumping all over the place. double check all of your other connections as well

its not listed as powerpro i had to call them to ask what brand it was.its doesnt jump all that much just doesnt seem to be reading good. i have the power supply and ground from the cruis control cables where it was before.... o.O should i try to ground it else where? i think it should be fine ground to that cable though.... let me try to better explain how its working lets say LED'S 1-20 1 being the lean LED 20 being the rich LED. for the mose part 1-6 will be lit up. then while im driving normal cruising down like 1/3 throttle, it will be like 7-9 3 of the LED'S on then when i punch it, it just turns the LED'S off no led's light up... i remember before it would be like led 14 would stay on like right at the rich point. any idea why the dude before had spliced both the white and green cable?

So you don't have a wideband sensor? It's just a useless light show if you don't...

Check your grounds for sure.

OK, that's just a stock narrowband Honda 02 sensor. It's useless for an AF gauge, you need a wideband sensor.

My PLX AF gauge uses a VW wideband sensor FWIW...

As long as it's a wideband....I don't know if Denso makes them or not but as long as you get a wideband your gauge should be functional.

Here's a Bosch wideband from the PLX website: http://www.plxdevices.com/prod...nsor/

Also (was posted in my thread I linked you to) be the answer as to why yours isn't reading?

You know your gauge is only going to be as accurate as your sensor? Which is only from ~14.3-15.1 AFR... Otherwise it's just a fancy light show.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Where would you install the wide band sensor. In the downpipe? I know there is 2 O2 sensors in the car 1 being in the downpipe, the other one Im unsure of the location?

There's only one sensor if you're older than a '96 I believe, even with the wideband o2 it's basically taking the place of your stock narrowband, and (from what I've gathered, don't quote me please) basically the wideband allows for better tuning and readings of a wider range of a/f ratios.

i connected my a/f gauge to the D14 pin which is the only way to get to the wht and red pin. and it doesnt work. by the way mine has red and white 2 pins next to each other. meaning... not one on top of the other but side by side... any one know where i can get a ecu diagram for my P14 ecu? what i have seen is for the p13... which doesnt coaside with the colors from mine.

The colors and pin location are the exact same between P14 and P13. The only differences are a couple more wires on the P13 for VTEC.

Read the pin diagrams again, you are probably counting from the wrong side. I, too thought they were different when i was swapping, but after closer inspection, found them to be identical.

It's based on the connector type:

I think a Prelude uses the A type, but you might want to check your car and make sure before you buy anything...

I had a denso o2 sensor. Doesnt work with my autometer af gauge, and it threw CEL for bad o2 sensor when heavy gas load. Wouldn't get it.

as for the AF. Narrowband = buy someone a xmas present instead.
Wideband = worth every cent.

The best way to see what type of O2 sensor you have is to look at it to make sure because there are at least different brands for sell trust me I just went through all that. Now my Prelude runs fine I just need a quite exhaust.
