k20 hybrid help!!
Hey guys, I just read in another thread that the '02 Accord, current CRV, RSX, and S2000 have interchangeable parts because they all have the K series engines.. I saw some people posting that are planning on putting their Type S head on a CRV block and then I saw some people who are planning on putting an S2000 head on their Type S block. I just wanted to know which interchangeable swap would give me greater hp gains and more torque.. thanks a lot guys..
I've said this before, but I'm not a fan of the potential 2.4-S engine. A 99mm stroke is crazy long, and anything past 7,000 rpms is really gonna be pushing it. Throw on a head that needs to rev to 8,000 to make it's best power, and you're going to have problems. So you're looking at all new forged internals, and probably resleeving the block so you don't blow a piston through the cylinder walls.
If you're going through all that trouble, it just makes a lot more sense to use the stock 2 liter block, resleeve it, and bore it out to 90mm. That'll give you a 2,188cc's of displacement while retaining stock engine geometry & reliability.

what about this...seeing how the crv block employs 0.4 litres more, won't the tork curve falls off earlier? It seems to make sense to me that the head won't have enough time able to fill the cylinders with mixture as with the 2.0l block (at the higher revs), so the power would start to drop off earlier...no?

I mean when you put cams on your car it allows you to rev higher and essentially moves the power band up. thats because it simply opens the valves wider and keeps them open longer allowing more mixture thru to sustain the power at higher rpms.
Soooo, if you let the head breath more, the tork curve will rev higher and i think if you make the cc bigger, the lesser dynamic compression at a given high rev will lower the tork curve.
But what so i know, i'm just an armchair racer...

the only car that this engine and tranny combo is going to fit in anyways is the 02 civic SI, and rsx..also crv but who cares.....these engines rotates clockwise and these are the only cars that would accept this swap...so i guess there will be some pretty badass 02 si hybrids in the future..who knows...
