Default Suspension question for hatch owners..........

My friend has a 94DX hatch w/ITR motor, just had local shop add a set of "Energy" brand sway bars, I guess they're made by Energy Suspension. The problem is, they hang really low, and scrape speed bumps, driveways, etc. Has anyone else had this problem? Ever use this brand of swaybar?

Yes. And yes.

Here's the problem.

That looks real unsafe. It doesn't look like it would go on top either. Looks like it would hit the cv joint going over a bump. I'd take it off if I where you.

thanks for the pic, I haven't had time to get his car off the ground. I guess it's just that brand, cause I'm using ST's front and rear, and I have no problems at all, my car is on 15's, and lower than his. Think he's going to have to pull those off, it's already driving him crazy.

I always recommend stock front bars (they go over the cat, and don't hit squat), and aftermarket rear bars for cars that don't have them.

My $0.02

I also have a GSR bar, but I'd look into a LS bar. I think they're smaller than the GSR... something that's desirable.

I don't even understand how that swaybar achieves it's goal. The bar is so long from the pickup point on the LCA to the pivot point, it must provide almost zero torsional resistance. In other words, with that much of a mechanical advantage, it's very easy to bend. I would assume, easier to bend that a stock Si bar.

Regardless, it's one of the most abysmal designs I've ever seen. Get that POS off of there!

I took a look underneath his car yesterday, and they're friggin low! There's scrape marks all over te bottom part, and his car is on 16's, w/about a finger gap all the way around. They're making even more noise now, then before, so I'm trying to convince him to take them off and sell em on ebay. He's got a stock type R rear bar from a roll over that he bought recently, so we might be using that w/a beaks kit. I had stock bars before, but I'm using ST's now, and I love em. Thanks for all the info fellas.
