White Smoke! HELP!
My car burns white smoke sometimes when I start the car up in the morning. However, when the car is at normal idling temperatures, it does not blow any smoke. Is this bad? Any information on this issue?
Also, I blow black smoke in small amounts when I shift really high or rev high. My car is tuned with I/H/E/High-Flo Cat; this may be a result of the mods but I am not sure. The motor was purchased about 10,000 miles ago from N1 Concepts in California (whom I hear has a good reputation). I don't know exactly how many miles are on the motor, but I was told it was around 50 or 60k. Isn't this a little early for having smoke problems?
Thank you for any help!

About 100% of cars put out noticeable exhaust when it is cold out side.
Once your car warms up however, it should not be smoking anymore.
If you are conserned, do a leakdown test.

Every car I have ever seen always burns white smoke in the morning when its first started up, is your excesive or something?
The black smoke means your running rich, that sometimes happens at higher RPMS and it could be becuase of the cat, a bad o2, a bad tune, etc etc. There are lots of things that cause it to run rich.

Are you sure it's white smoke, or steam from condensation that collects in the exhaust overnight? Sometimes we overthink things, and hopefully that's the case.
As for the black smoke, I wouldn't worry as long as it's a very small amount that gets burnt at only high revs. If it had smoke when you just drive around town, then I'd worry.

Leakdown test, is that something I can do easily myself or do I need to go somewhere to get it done? And what does it prove anyway?
You need an air compressor and the gauge kit. It takes a measurement of how much percentage of the air pressure leaks from the cylinder. Once you get a reading, you can listen through the intake, exhaust, radiator, or oil cap for air leaking (bubbles, in the case of the radiator) to find out where the leak is coming from. Basically, you need a shop to do it for you.
