true. even if the numbers are good he's voided any sort of warranty and backdated a motor.

I bet the numbers are nice though

You do know this board is full of people who spend stupid amounts of money actually modifying cars. Anyone with a credit raiting can go buy a stock quick car, people who actually enjoy building cars are the ones doing interesting work like this guy has done. Give it a thumbsdown all you want, i'm sure that guy didn't care what your opinion would be about how he should build his car.

yeah there are alot of people who spend crap tons of money on good mods and swaps. This one doesn't make any sense. he should have just bought an SI. You are not getting enough power over an SI to make up the diffrence. Give me 10k and an SI and it will stomp that car. It is great to do interesting swaps with engines that are not usually avaible. The problem that I have with this swap is that it is the ultimate ricer move. Its like he wanted to buy the car but didn't. If you are going to do a swap I would say switch between generations/bodies/maybe brands. Don't swap up to something you could have bought stock.

Maybe he bought the car with a blown motor, maybe it was a gift from his parents, maybe his old motor injested water and he used the insurance money for the K swap. You don't know. Point is down the road when the cars are cheaper we know this swap can be done. And throw all the money at your SI you want, you'll never go as fast as he will in a lighter LX.

True that, all except the last part. Big chunk of the weight IS from the motor.

Alot of it is the sunroof and supports, brakes, stereo. K20 is a light motor, i'm sure very close to the weight of the 1.8.

I agree 100% i love to see people experimenting with there cars... new or not it doesnt matter. its the self enjoyment of having the k20 in a lx super sleeper... maybe its enough to crack a smile when he smokes an si on the road. who knows... i just like this kinda stuff... they guy that built that could turn around in 2 to 6 months and have a sick show car.... that engine will deff score some points...

thanks for all the input on the thread though... all your opinions mean alot.... (its not my car but whoever post it shows you care)

Although he has a Type R motor........the car isn't really a Type R. He's still got to upgrade the suspension and brakes.....two things that the Si still holds better over the LX.

Tack that on to whatever hefty price tag he dropped into doing that motor swap.

He even said so himself....the car's not running like it should until he gets the K-pro. There's another grand or so dished out on top of suspension and braking work.

When you boil down to the facts and you look at the big picture which would you rather choose if you had 30K in your pocket?............

Spend 15K on an LX and drop in another 15K to drop a Type R motor in with the stock suspension and brakes while still needing to tune the motor?

Or......

Buy a 21K Si that comes out of the box as a performance-inspired car and drop an additional 9K into IT. With the money spent the right way the Si will surely be faster with the same amount of money being spent overall when comparing the two choices.

K20A Type R motor is an excellent motor, but the K20Z3 is a pretty damn good motor as well.

I cant understand why!

K20Z is sick...civic LX has rear drums, small front discs, less than performance suspension...GAH!

just buy an Si and remove the badges and swap to the blue gauges if you want the sleeper!!!
to much money spent in not the greatest way...

For crying out loud people! Quit trying to justify how he spent his money. Who cares what you all think is a wise choice in modifying a car. I'm sure there is alot of us that think you people buying Si's are idiots when you can buy a used NSX or S2000 for the same cost.

Nsxprime has had them as low as 21k for very presentable early year examples. Do some research before you speak, I know it's unheard of around here but try once..

I'm just saying how I would have spent the money. And a used S2000 or NSX for the same price as an Si is either gonna be a few years old or have alot of miles on it already. I would probably only buy one if I had the cash to buy it straight up. It just doesn't make sense to finance a car that's already 2 or 3 years old for an additional 4, 5, or 6 years.

I think with the money he has I don't think he is worried about any warranty. The only warranty issue he faces would be a drive train warranty.
