i have a 1996 honda civic 1.6 vtec.
now the first trouble is that the speedo is going crazy when you get on it hard the needle jumps all over the place.could there be someething loose?
second trouble is when im getting on it hard and it revs up to about 6000 rpm the computer shuts it down until i let of the gas and then it picks back up..

VSS = Vehicle Speed Sensor.
It tells the ECU how fast you are going, which tells the cluster and cruise control how fast you are going.
If the wiring is faulted (usually this happens when it gets cut and grounds against part of the engine) on the harness going from the VSS to the ECU it makes the VSS have inaccurate/faulty readings which leads to stuff like you mentioned.
