help broken speedometer

Default help broken speedometer

ok my speedometer doesnt work. i took it out looked at it and it seems fine. when i turn on the car the tach is gettin power cause u try to move it then itll thrust back down at the needle. the check engine light came on when it stoped working. my vss is hooked up im not sure what it could be... any ideas???

vehicle speed sensor it is located on top of the trans.

have a mechanic look at the harness that plugs into the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) the pins in the plug have a tendency to loosen through the years.

its probly the VSS, i have the same problem my speedometer cuts out every now and then...

Exactly. It's probably not going to be the connection in the back of the cluster itself because it's protected pretty well. However, since the VSS is right on top of the transmission, it has a tendency to take more abuse from just normal driving. Try cleaning/checking that.

yes check the vss on top of the tranny, if in dought get another one.
