Default Want to run SLICKS

I READ A LOT here, not post. But finally finished my setup. I am trying to get to he track for my birthday (Dec. 7) I am really hoping for some very low 13-high 12 sec times. Seems possible from wat ive researched....but again, that is all on PAPER. I want to run some SLICKS FTW!!!!!

Here is my setup w/ some #'s

96 milano red ek hatch
d16y7
z6 IM
t3 super 60 .42 .48 turbo
cast mani
greddy type s BOV
Tial 38mm WG
open 2.5" dp (soon to have e-cutout to stock exhaust)
Recently installed SI trans
UNbroken in Exedy Stage 1 clutch
Brand new OEM flywheel
3"x12"x32" FMIC
Custom piping By Yonke's Racing in Clearwater/Safety Harbor Florida

Put down 193hp/174tq @ 9lbs
Tuned on Blue Moon's Dyno by John Vega @ Phearable.net

Right now I have stock axles and for some STRANGE reason a still slippy clutch
(only 150 miles on it, and havent pulled on it since about 30mi) so we'll see how the rest of the break in goes
Tranny is also stock but in great shape w/ 100k miles on it, shifting perfect.

QUESTION????? Can i just run smaller slicks....22" or less w/ stock components? axles trany internals..etc.
Would u experienced guys reccomend drag radials instead?
If i go Drag Radials, i want to do Nitto 555 DR's (for $$ purposes and i hear they are sticky and get good wear) i hear mickey is tearing it up though

Feedback on this subject FTW!!!!!!!!!!

thanks in advance

-Roland

22x8x13 is the best size for the power you are making.

my only concern is the Exedy Stage 1 clutch. Im not 100% familiar with that clutch but I assume since its a stage 1, that its just a basic organic disc. Usually those dont last and do well on hard launches and burnouts. The extreme heat put on them on a burnout usually breaks apart the disc.

I'd get at least a puck style disc so it will hold better under the extreme conditions.

i would recommend 20x8's. i used them on my old 200whp d series setup with an Si tranny and they worked great.

I have run the Exedy stage 1, very similar to a centerforce dual friction or an ACT stage 2, Organic disk but reinforced and fairly sturdy. It held up to slicks when I was running them so I don't think it should be a problem right away, but worth an upgrade with bigger numbers

ACTION 1MS clutch kit. good streetable pressure plate and sprung puck disc to handle the hard launches and burnouts.

you will have some fun, but i warn you about preloading. your clutch will hate you. if it is organic, go ieasy on it, if it is ceremetallic, let it eat.

OK GUYS>>>> Bought a set of (2) Nitto Drag radials. $190 SHIPPED off eBay!!!... i can drive them on the street and get em sticky @ the track. I know they arent as sticky as the mickeys, but you can SOMEWHAT drive these in the rain, whereas those mickeys....... i would be ice skating

Thankyou for all of your help. I am goign to do some searching on MOTOR MOUNTS, TRACTION BARS, AND suspension (ride quality/drag/road X) AFTER i go to the track.. wish me luck... and lets put some $$$$ down on 1/8 and 1/4 times. hehehe 193hp 174tq in an ek hatch on DR's... $5 says <13.5sec
