Default Question about Registration California mainly.

I'm in the process right now of turning my car into a car to compete in SFWD/T4 classes. But what i was wondering is what do people do for registration. I understand that you need current registration to go to street legal events (like Fontana) and you need this as well to race in the SFWD class.

I was planning on making the car a PNO and just having insurance for it incase it gets broken into or stolen. Does that count as current registration or do i have to have it current running registration which includes doing smog? If so how do you guys do it? Thanks.

Smog hook up to get it registered and every time I go to Fontana...its a 50/50 chance they check my registration but I got kicked off that track for any street legal events anyways
