94-97 VTEC models came with b16a(in 94-95 it had the b16a3, in 96-97 it had the b16a2)

(NOTE: the Si's are most opf the time listed as a VTEC model on FS adds due to their engines being the sohc vtec motors d16z6 or d16y8)

forget the vin tag, I want to say EG2 or EG1

It's EG2, EG1 was the base model (S).

Remember, it's "VTEC" aka. DOHC VTEC.

Not if it "has VTEC" - because the Si has VTEC, but that's a D16 SOHC VTEC.

OBD-I models had a B16A3 and OBD-II models ('96+) had a B16A2. It lasted from '94-'97.

Yeah man, I've SEEN one legit Del Sol "VTEC" in good condition. Seen a few in crappy condition, but that #'s still under 5.

Most of the "VTEC" ones are the Si's with the Z6/Y8 in them.

Though I haven't seen that many sols, PERIOD. So uhh, guess I'm kinda excluded anyways.

Good for you, but a lot of sols are marked as "VTEC" when they're the Si models and do have VTEC, but it's a Z6 or a Y8, as both of us said, so shush.

@ OP: Just look for EG2 as the 4th, 5th, and 6th chars of the VIN.

EDIT:
I'm sorry, all three of us.

And you fail at reading again.

Not once did I ever say they were called VTEC by Honda.

A lot of people, when selling them as used cars, market them as "VTEC" due to the fact that they do infact have VTEC, regardless of what Honda ever intended by putting the DOHC B16 in there. If you actually did **** in the real world you wouldn't even post what you did.

Now go take your sol manuals and run along, you're pathetic.

Someone posted the link on the dSoc thread, I thought I'd help out without getting involved with the above posts.

Besides we've got anywhere between 7 to 10 hours time difference, so yeah I'm late.

why isn't banning people like you easy?

me and syndicate killed this thread in only the 1st 2 posts....if you had any sort of REED-ING KOMP-REE-HEN-SHUN (tried to sound it out so you get the grasp ) you would've understood what both syndicate and I were explaining which is simply:

when a person tries to sell an sohc vtec del sol (following me still?)

they tend to mark it as a VTEC model so they get more looks because the true VTEC model sol is so rare

(get it? got it? GOOD!....now go drink a gallon of bleach or try and find a natural gas leak with a lighter or something of the suicidal nature)

yeah, you're a little late but i want to clarify on this info.

USDM
1993-1995
del Sol "S" - EG1 - D15B7 non VTEC
del Sol "Si" - EH6 - D16Z6 single cam VTEC
del Sol "VTEC" - EG2 - B16A3 dual cam VTEC

1996-1997
del Sol "S" - EH6 - D16Y7 non VTEC
del Sol "Si" - EH6 - D16Y8 single cam VTEC
del Sol "VTEC" - EG2 - B16A2 dual cam VTEC

So basically the 96-97 S is an eh6 as well.
