Default anyone have experience doing a compression test???

I bought a compression tester a while back, but have yet to use it. Basically I am wondering what procedure to use as I have heard multiple suggestions from friends of mine. Also, what kinda of readings should I Be looking for on a b16a1?
Suggestions:

1. Disconnect the fuel system and crank the car a few times.

2. Run 12v wire to starter and crank it a couple of times that way (so no fuel is being supplied.

3. Just pull all the plugs and crank the car a couple of times. (fuel is being pumped though)

So which is it?? Or is there a completely different method all together??

Thanks in advance.

1. warm engine.
2. pull out fuel fuse.
3. pull out all 4 spark plugs.
4. connect hose to first cylinder, make sure its secure.
5. WOT and crank until needle stops moving.
6. do steps 4 & 5 for other cyilnders.

numbers sound be 135-185 on b16a, i got 170.
no more than 20 different between cylinders.
yea i think thats about it. good luck

no more than 20% variance from the highest cylinder, (if the highest is 200 then 40psi would be the max difference, etc..)
