Ball joint seperator. From autozone. Not the fork type. Or you can hit the side of the nut with a hammer. I've seen that work.

http://www.mytoolstore.com/astro/7838.jpg it looks like the middle one. the the 2 fingers go on the lower control arm and the screw in the middle goes on the ball joint. Hook it up to a rachet and rachet away. It might make a LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!! pop. well mine was sticky.

I'm assuming that you mean you're trying to separate the lower ball joint from the knuckle.. What I usually do is hit it with a big 3lbs hammer/sledge. I usually have the car in the air though. But I have had to do it on the floor too. I find it best if I turn the wheel all the way to one side and get a clear shot at it. I usually try to swing the hammer horizontally by resting the hammer on the ground swinging up towards the ball joint. Just remember to put the nut back on the ball joint after you've loosened it. It'll prevent you from damaging the threads with your hammer. A few good hits should pop that free.
