Ducati 900 SS
hey guys...can someone tell me more about this bike? looking for something to cruise around town on....is it the dry clutch? how do the valves hold up? It'll never see the track, as I have a track bike, and this definitly isn't my first bike. The bike it is replacing (already gone) is an Aprilia RSV Factory.
It's the less sporty version of the big Superbike (916/996/998). IIRC, the Supersports are air-cooled.
If you've been riding an RSV Factory, then riding the 900SS is going to be a lot less thrilling. But if that's what you're looking for (something to cruise around town), you could do worse.

I know it's a steel framed, Air cooled, V twin...Which is what intrigues me. The RSV was a great bike, but I couldn't ride it to work every day, and nor did I feel right putting lots of miles on it.
Where does the 900ss sit as far as reliability? could I put 2-5k miles on it in a year?

I have ridden one from NJ to West Virginia. The bike was very reliable and comfortable the whole way down. This is not my bike, I own a 600RR, but I liked the bike alot. It was fairly light weight considering it had many carbon fiber goodies and the motor pulled. I liked the bike and they are going for pretty cheap. I would say go for it.

There is also an sp version of the 900 with an aluminum frame, but whats the point if your going down from a RSV. the 900ss is a great knock around bike, but the pantha engine is not really a smoker. As stated above its a bit of an down grade if your talking abiliy in the corners, but the duck will be a little more comfortable over a long haul...
