Any oem header should be CARB legal.

y8 is probably one of the best oem d-series headers, with some porting and a modified collector the y8 header can compete with sub $500 headers. For a much lower cost.

yes, all d series headers will fit all d series heads. megan racing makes a cheap aftermarket header for d series.

any D series header will fit. i run an Airmass on my sol and it works great. very good price too! if you can find the y8 then i would just go with that instead.

Really, I was thinking the Z6 header would flow better due to its ability to run more efficiently at slightly higher redline.

It's debatable.

If you install an EX header then you will also need to take the car to a muffler/welding shop and have them cut a section out of your exhauist piping to add an under engine catalytic convertor just like the EX has.

Then you'll have to extend the wires for your secondary oxygen sensor, and have it installed in the back of your new under engine catalytic convertor.

"Why all the trouble and extra work for just a header?"

Here's why - look at the completely different exhaust manifold/catalytic convertor set-ups for the Dx vs. EX;

LX/DX/CX has the cat convertor BUILT INTO the exhaust manifold/"header":

Look at where the oxygen sensors are located - then take note of the completely different set-up and secondary o2 sensor location for the EX:

Numbers 9 and 5 on the second picture represent the a pipe and the cat convertor. Look how far back the seondary o2 sensor is, #27, and you'll get an idea of just how crazy long you'd have to extend the wires for it since it's factory location is #9 on the pic of the DX/CX/LX manifold/convertor picture.

In other words you're in for a pain in the *** "conversion" to the EX style header or manifold.

The flipside of that is just how retarded expensive the factory DX/CX/LX manifold/convertor assembly is - check this topic where I broke it down:

the dx manifold design sucks imo.

As soon as my ex header arrives I'm replacing my cracked manifold for a new cat/header.

Bummer i don't have a welder :/
